After your recent mentions I watched the Dave Stevens documentary on Amazon Prime. Wow! That took me down a delightful rabbit hole in art history. What a body of work. (Pun delightfully unintended).

Thanks for reading my comment John, always gives me a buzz. Chaykin's American Flagg is a title I go back to and reread every few years, it still stacks up well. His integration of politics, SF, the media star syndrome, even soft porn (hey, it's Chaykin) and the way he moves from satirical to serious is very effective. And who could not be impressed by the title's real star, Raul the cat.

@23:00: When I had a huge issue with a CGC order, I couldn't even find anyone at CGC that acknowledged the problem whatsoever. Everyone I talked to kept telling me what happened couldn't happen. 100% gaslighting from customer service.

I saw that CGC video sorting for 9.9 and 10s. I noticed a distinct lack of "finger bends".

The Archie book was more known for the 1st appearance of Cad Baine on an insert. Also an issue or two later they made a What If Archie married Betty

If you ship a cgc book back within rhe time frame they state when claiming damages or mechanical errors they do cover the shipping.

Yet another great show guys! As a dedicated member (🤔🤣) I instantly ordered the full run of The Minx (£18 inc. postage off Ebay) to read and evaluate. I shall let you know what I think. 🫡

I think that Point One cover is just what Art Adams decided to draw for the variant cover (1960's Marvel), it doesn't relate to the interiors. We don't know who Crush's mother is. I'm with you Richard on "Millar" . I do NOT have a complete run of The Minx. A guy I grew up with went on to do a whole book about Howard Chaykin.

Ain’t no way he’s gonna count pages on books straight from the printer that nobody will ever look inside. The publisher and CGC have teamed up to sell a collectible product, but it is not the same thing as a collectible comic book that has a chance to be read. In the unlikely event there's a printer error or some kind of shenanigans inside, by the time one of those gets cracked, both publisher and CGC will have lonnng had their money. Because there is no incentive to crack in the first place; all inherent value in the product will have evaporated in the act opening it up in the first place. For better or worse, the insides of those books simply don't matter.

I watch the market very closely because my business is solely on cleaning and pressing and we are a CGC facilitator and signature Series and notice that all in all 99.9% of the books that we get all go to CGC very few go to CBCS even with all the drama and everything that's going on CGC still wins and now with the purchase of JSA I think that's going to put a hurt on CBCS My personal opinion I've been in the comic book business for 42 years and in this business for eight and I travel the country and also to Canada and Mexico and I've seen so many books, our way so I can solely say that CGC is still on top.

Okay John, the fact that you're a John Ostrander fan like myself has put you two steps ahead of your partner (I still like you, Richard, kind of 😉). That being said, I had talked with him a few years ago at a New Jersey comic con and funny as it may sound, he told me that out of all of the things he's written, his Grimjack series was is favorite. I was sure he was going to say Hawkworld or Suicide Squad. Could have knocked me over with a feather. A little F.Y.I. for ya.

Why is there still ANY belief that this Nova will be part of the MCU? It just won’t happen. No way Disney will introduce a superhero named Richard Rider in a movie or tv show for the obvious juvenile joke that would be made. Child: “Why is everyone laughing at that man’s name? Parent: “Just eat your popcorn “. Any Nova would be a later version.

John, your CGC/CBCS decision while understandable does have a mild hint of hypocrisy. If we want change to occur in the marketplace, we have to be willing to change our individual actions. CGC's recent shenanigans have convinced me to fully make the change to CBCS.

Okay, I’m going to preface this by saying I’m not a slab collector, and my observation is as an outsider to that part of the hobby, but, I’m going to call it and say, yes, John, you’re a “hypocrite” re: using CGC to grade the books you’ll flip and CVC for your personal titles. What’s the point of splitting the books considering by using CGC you’re continuing to endorse the company as the only one that the market recognises & for the perceived added value they offer. Considering the continued issue with quality control (you had an example right on the show) & concerning grading skills wouldn’t it be more appropriate to send all the books to CBCS if they are the better company, otherwise CGC has absolutely no incentive to fix their internal issue if people will continue to use the service because of perceived market value that at this point has surely been devalued on the back of any number of controversies? And again, not a slab collector but intrigued to understand the decision to split the submissions.🤔
