I think SpongeBob's world works like a dreamscape. The changing buildings, shifting streets, and inconsistent layouts within episodes resemble the fluid nature of dreams. The characters’ inability to remember past events mirrors how dreamers forget previous dreams. The surreal humor and defiance of logic and physics also further support this idea

Squidwards house feels like it was designed to be weird, not just through the dream like inconsistencies of the interior. Remember that one episode where patrick was saying something like "no one will know what's in my box, not even SQUIDWARDS HOUSE." Then there's that other episode where squidward gets a security system, and his house grows arms and legs and throws squidward out. It's like it's literally alive, a character in the show. He apparently lives in the house on Ash Tree Lane, and it just moved to bikini bottom after the events of House of Leaves.

i dont think its stated anywhere that its alive, but in another episode, arms colored exactly like the house pop out from each side to cover its ears because of how much noise spongebob was making, and in another one, it does the same, but the arms are now sand. so Squidwards house is constantly listening to everything

Security system TAKES CONTROL OF SQUIDWARD'S HOUSE and begins ATTACKING THE CITY. Leaving the mayor to give Squidward community service for the damage he caused. EVEN THOUGH Spongebob and Patrick were in his house the WHOLE FUCKING TIME, and were responsible for EVERYTHING! GAAH! FUCK THIS EPISODE!

I think theres a simple answer to his changing house.. his house (same w patrick) was never meant to be shown very often so there was never a official design unlike spongebobs house

I am so interested in this series, please continue for further information for the show

my theory: he just rebuilds parts of his house to confuse spongebob and patrick.. which never works.

Plankton was the first time we saw squidwards bedroom he could honestly just move it upstairs especially after Spongebob messed up the walls and walked into his bedroom in the middle of the night

This is why its important to make plans for the main building in your show.

I'm pretty sure he got the house before he became a fry cook. How did he afford is is propably with the financial support from his parents or he didn't had to pay for it since it's a random pinapple that just fell from the surface at some point.

Well, my explanation would be, that squidward had his house rebuild a bunch of times (Because of the episodes, where it just broke and stuff like that) and each time, he just decided to make a few layout changes, since he tends to not be happy with ALOT of things...

Considering that his house had been reduced to rumble it makes sense the interior changes. He rebuilt and swapped rooms around. Or the artists just don't have a drawn map.

Some of the doors keep changing, too. Most of the doors are rectangular, but some of the doors change to be shorter and rounded at the top; some of the more-rounded doors even appear to be made of a different material. Squid's style is pretty uniform throughout his house, so it's unlikely that he changed the smaller doors himself

The houses are just non-Euclidean the exterior size doesn’t match up with the interior size, the layout changes it’s just hard to figure out

I have a feeling that the interiors change based on the story being told. No shit, right? But like, in the Christmas episodes in season 3, Patchy is reading from a book. I kinda wonder if each episode is a book, and so it just has random details based on what is in the story.

The whole show is inconsistent with the locations and layouts, Squidman's house however is one of the only buildings that's implied to be sentient being, possibly alive too.

I personally disagree heavily with your layout. I think the bedroom is on the first floor with the art room, and the bathroom in his bedroom and art room are the same room (Identical layout). If you rotate the bedroom 180 degrees, it fits neatly at the back. Add some corridors and it does line up. The issues are the usual continuity errors.

Calling the 2nd floor the 1st floor is throwing me off.
