As a genshin player for 3 years, I live with the mentality that I just can't care about what people think. I don't even need to talk about the negative assumptions you get just by saying you play genshin or like it.

Ahh you jump scared me with... me, in this video. Not to suggest you misrepresented my opinion on the Ultrakill community in this video (in fact I think you summed up perfectly what I said directly to you I didn't like about it) but it does go a bit deeper than the community just being BAD and I think I'll use this opportunity to just expand on it a little bit. I think with any community, the deeper you get into it the more shitty people you will find. I think it's true of even the most wholesome communities, there's always gotta be a few miserable sorts out there. I think Ultrakill's community has some serious problems, I've made whole video essays on this unfortunately, *but* I can recognize I have a different experience than the average person who just pokes into the reddit or looks at fan art on twitter or whatever. My videos have at various points in time been on the front page of search results for the game and I am just overall casting a really wide net and unfortunately catching more than few nasty lil fish. My recommendation to newcomers to the community, especially content creators and streamers, is to be really careful and keep the community at arms length as best as possible... BUT, had I taken this advice myself I wouldn't have met some awesome people including the speedrun community, much of the streaming and content community for the game, and people who have become my moderators, friends, and just in general tons of people I'm very happy the game introduced me to. It's a double edged sword... Aren't they all?

There's a few things I want to say, but I'd also like to keep it short because some of these comments are too damn long. First, you mentioned fanbases that are hidden gems, and I'd like to recommend Deep Rock Galactic. I don't even play the game and I know how nice they are. Warframe is another that comes to mind. Second, I adore the way this video was made. You're speaking your mind with high-quality editing and good humor, but it's also slow and laid back, and it's done so well for such a small channel. I've been on the internet for a very long time and gone around many different corners of fandoms. I'd like to forward some conclusions I've come to: When it comes to the "Toxic fandoms vs Obsessive fandoms" Obsessive fandoms extremely easily come out on top with how bad they can be For the most toxic toxic fandom, I'd say League, some of the chat messages sent on that game are some of the most violent and aggressive ever sent over the medium of video games. Along with that, the issues you have with Rocket League players having bad mental, wanting to quit and sabotaging the game over nothing are multiplied tenfold However, Counter Strike and Call of Duty get honourable mentions, the actual insults and threats are less aggressive than in League but there's the added factor of having a voice chat involved As for the worst obsessive fandoms, my top three goes 1 - Genshin Impact 2 - Minecraft KZreadr Stans 3 - KPOP Stans Genshin Impact is a pretty good game, it genuinely has some of the best combat, soundtrack, open world exploration and characters out there. While everything else about the game ranges from average quality to bad. Thing is, it is LARGE all around the world, and while the curse of the vocal minority is true in the case of Genshin, that minority is still VERY big and the loudest vocal minority I have ever seen, they can't be ignored. There are countless horror stories from that fandom like voice actors being harassed due to their characters not being meta enough, sexualisation of underage characters, the calling in of bomb threats and murdering of cats. Toxic men and women of varying ages, any random person in that fandom could be a bad one As for the Minecraft KZreadr Stans, these mainly surround the obsessive fans around KZreadrs like Dream, Georgenotfound, Tommyinnit, Tubbo and Wilbursoot. Most of these fans came to follow these Minecraft KZreadrs in 2020 and they almost all came from the My Hero Academia fandom. Now the MHA fandom is it's own story, but basically imagine the Undertale fandom but considerably worse. Tumblr shipping, R34 and general obsession kinda stuff. But when they came to these Minecraft KZreadrs, their behaviour managed to get even worse and now they were obsessing over real people. They would ship and make R34 of these real people despite the creator's wishes and begin to expect the creators to be these morally perfect beings that never make mistakes and carefully choose their speech to not upset any fragile people. If one of the creators stepped out of line they would be bullied mercilessly all in the name of "Correcting themself" And as for KPOP stans, their obsession over their favourite KPOP artists is simply unparalleled and it causes daily arguments and fights to happen online in extremely vicious outbursts at anyone who can see their arguments take place. Death threats, doxing, bullying, swatting, nothing is off the table for these guys. Even if you aren't particularly into KPOP, you are able to say something accidentally that they get angry at and come at you with all their might That's all for now, this message is already gigantic as it is. I do want to say though, this was a very good video considering the size of your channel, you are certainly underrated. I thought you might like to know the story of the needle cookie incident that comes from the Undertale fandom. There was this Taiwanese artist who had drawn some rather mature art surrounding the ship between Sans and Frisk. When this artist was attending a convention, someone came up to them and offered them a cookie, the artist ate the cookie but it ended up having needles inside, seriously injuring them. If you ask me, that story is the Undertale fandom at its all time worst

@@FlameFlare Alas my opinion is bound to be biased because I am a part of the Genshin community and never Minecraft’s but even before I ever started playing Genshin I already had a distaste for the immature children that is Minecraft’s fanbase

League of legends is an occasional addiction that comes and goes. People are so toxic about it, because they are either obsessed at rising or obsessed to bring others down. The end gaming experience is just a bunch of junkies forced to sit together and waste their time. Whenever I return to that game once an year to satisfy that sick craving, I turn chat off.

Obsessive fanbase: Hollow Knight Best Fan Bases I've been a part of: Heart Machine (game company that made Hyper Light Drifter, and Solar Ash), Death Door's, and Devolver Digital's (yes the publishing company), their stuff is amazing, their games are great, and their communities are top tier, but Heart Machine is the single best community I've been a part of to this day.

All I can say is you already named 2/3 annoying fanbases of the media I like, being ULTRAKILL, League of Legends, and the one you didn't name being One Piece. How I feel about each, in order goes: The ULTRAKILL Community does make me very sad at times, especially when it comes to spoilers and backseating. But I believe Dumpster Man definitely helped with his video talking about the ULTRAKILL Community as a whole, but there will always be those bad apple the community has to be better than. League is one of the games I still play with people from my teens. Old school friends and my brother, but the community is so toxic that I just have the chat turned off and I mute anyone's pings that I deem unhelpful. Lastly the One Piece community, honestly it isn't as bad as the other communities I mentioned, it is just a bit pretentious toward other anime and sassy when people criticize it without watching it, while to a certain degree I understand, if someone says it's bad but hasn't even watched a single episode, but if someone has tried a solid 75 episodes and says it's not for them then they are entitled to their opinion but the community gets so mad, some people saying they have to watch at least 200 episodes before judging it, but honestly you can watch 4-8 great series in that time. Concluding statement: I should have started on my final essay instead of writing this mini essay.

deep rock galactic has a pretty wholesome fanbase so I have heard but I haven't tried it for myself because my pc can't handle it sadly but I think you should try it

Sonic is the poster series of this for me. Ngl at times it feels like there’s MULTIPLE vocal minority groups but I’d be lying if I didn’t say there are so many reasons to be invested in Sonic

In terms of a lot of either toxic or annoying fanbases, you can find a lot of them in popular anime. Evangelion fans, for example, were noted as one of the reasons why the creator did what he did in later film adaptations because he was annoyed with the fanbase being so obsessive with this one project that just so happened to take off. While you went a bit into the Overwatch fandom, oh, its gets worse. The game is outright toxic now unless you're screwing around with friends in a private server (I know there used to be a way to scam matchmaking to get all of your buddies in a single lobby and just screw around) as just putting "gg" in chat will get you banned. By Activision-Blizzard. And that's before you get into the shipping wars too with either canon or non-canon character relationships. Back in the day, the Legend of Korra fanbase was also pretty toxic. You had the people that just disliked the series because it was subpar in storytelling than the original series (in my opinion) and then you had the people that were way too invested in a fictional character's love life. Another toxic fandom are the ReyLos. Remember Star Wars: Force Awakens? There was a certain part of the fanbase that got so toxic over their fantasy over the characters of Kylo Ren and Rey (PalpaWalker) that it went into real life to the point these toxic fans tried many times to break up Adam Driver and his actual wife so that he'd marry Daisy Ridley. And it only escalated multiple times until that trilogy ended. Absolute psychopaths. On a side note, the soundtrack for Ultrakill is a banger.

helluva boss, its pilot alongside other episodes were the best form of dark humour I have ever seen AND BLITZ IS MY FAV CHARACTER IN THERE, but thanks to the fandom, all the dark humor and story it ever had got replaced with LGBTQ bs I couldn't give 2 shits about, not a second goes by when I don't see some aesthetic shipping and fangirls fawning over the gay owl Stolas, and mind you ive known helluva boss EVER SINCE the pilot if you don't mind the LGBTQ stuff smothered in it, then you'll love the humour and story (me personally mostly the dark humor, its fucking hilarious)

My friend is adament on not watching Jojo's because the community is annoying (apparently because they point out everything is a Jojo reference). It pains me so much cause Jojo's is so good and I know how much he's missing out on.

Same here. One of my friends/life skills mentors is adamant about not watching it either since he also thinks the community is annoying. Thankfully he’s okay with me talking about it and he doesn’t actively hate or dislike it whenever I mention my enthusiasm about the series, he’s moreso indfifferent about it. But he also says he refuses to watch it… which feels kinda weird. I mean, yeah, the fanbase CAN be annoying, but a handful of bad apples won’t poison the entire grove. It sucks, since I’m a massive fan of both JoJo and MHA, and of their fanbases is rather annoying and the other is super weird and disturbingly lewd for no reason, but both series themselves are amazing. I just sometimes have a really hard time recommending them to people.

Yeah, that's why I abanoned fandoms entirely Steven Universe, Halo, Star Wars, Rick and Morty, Minecraft... All ruined because of its fandoms and tourists The only ones I engage on the regular are the NieR, Titanfall 2 and Halo Wars fandoms

Ultrakill fans are wierd as hell. Basically Neo-4Chan. This is coming from a guy who is currently playing ultrakill, and loving it Not all of em, in fact, 65% of them are the most chill mfs I've met

The Hollow Knight and One Piece fanbases are mostly really chill The Hollow Knight fans are all (mostly) patiently waiting for the sequel Silksong and discuss the lore of the game One piece fans all just really like the anime/manga and get super excited whenever a new episode/chapter drops Also everyone gets extremely hyped when someone new starts One Piece(but for the love of god do not ever mention the concept of two characters, that never fought before, fighting. You'll have an army of 14 year olds whining about who's stronger show up in about 2 seconds

The nicest community i saw so far has to be celeste. Modded celeste specifically, because thats the one i interact with the most. Its actually insane how nice it is. Maybe part of it is that its not that big, but still. Unrelated, but i would like to recommend celeste and modded celeste, its just a really good platformer with a community of people always willing to help you

I find it a bit weird that you complained about certain fandoms making a lot of rule 34 and shipping characters when the source material is intended to be family-friendly but seem to not take any issue with Steven Universe sexualizing its own characters, including the fusion of Steven and Connie who are both children all while being aimed at younger audiences.

Let's be honest here. League Of Legends just isn't an all around good game. I tried playing it. It's not good. And the fact that there's an actual LoL addiction service is WILD.

I would love to agree with you but League isn't a bad game. It just has a high bar of entrance. In order to see how the game works you need at least a hundred hours in it. It is unfortunate it's not newbie friendly

@@tselis That's a fair point. Everyone has their own opinions. I gave the game a fair try and couldn't stand it. I've never been much of a fan of that genre of game anyways and I've grown distant from all PvP content over the years [I don't mind it in very specific games though lol]. But I personally think that game is just not worth getting into. The community for it is not very good at all and I don't think it's fun. You're welcome to like it but I stand by my opinion that the game is bad.

Because those shows are actually really good and by the point you claim you havent seen them. I highly advise you to have a watch because they are one of the most entertaining kids’ show you can find. The story is not as deep as steven universe -even though I have several consrodictions against that(respectfully)- you might find them interesting.
