Deborah, not only are we proud of you and all the voices but what adds to it are the visuals - OMG! The entire thing is a masterpiece. Absolutely stunning, captivating, gut wrenching and soul piercing. These emotions are now embedded in my heart and mind - as I am sure for many. Thank you.

Be so proud, it is precise, grand, beautiful, powerful..... yes it important and wonderful that Greenpeace are still trying to move the sludge that is the worlds greedy populous, amazing that Annie is still moved to sing amazing things. but this piece is absolutely down to all of you who sang to together, with individual passion and collective power I thank you all..... Be very proud..... x

As a stage technician who has paused my career because of COVID, this has brought me to tears. I miss being in the darkness having voices crash and wash over me. This lament also brings hope, that we can return to the stage. Hope that we can heal ourselves and the planet that we live upon. Thank all of you who gave this to me.

This is spectacular! I’m a former chorister with opera training and honestly never thought it would be possible to be blown away by someone singing Dido’s Lament in an alternative way. Thank you, Superstar Annie and London City Voices!

@@davidprowse4071 Yes, again I totally agree with you. I discovered the Royal Opera House on the web at the beginning of this pandemic, especially the postings of past ballet 🎭 performances. I now wish, when the pandemic is lessening & we have received vaccinations & can travel again, to make my first post-pandemic international trip to London, to see the Royal Opera House in person! And then visit Scotland! From Brooklyn, NYC, USA!

Wonderful words you have written for a heart stopping, fantastic performance by the wonderful Annie Lennox and the chorus. I loved when the video focused on the faces of the Chorus. And Annie's voice is so haunting, along with the lyrics of Dido. Marvelous!

Never heard a version that touched me more. I'm in tears. Watching this over and over again. Your voice, Annie, is incredible. I believe every word you sing. You feel it. And the virtual choir is simply brilliant. Chapeau.

@@QueerTunes what exactly are you talking about? This track was not on ‘A Christmas Cornucopia’ 10 years ago, was it? Also, what do you mean by “not performing live”? Obviously, this is a COVID-19 distance performance. Which can not be fully live in the sense of “everybody is performing at the same time, without any prerecorded guidance track” as far as I understand current video streaming technology - which will, over the internet, always induce an amount of latency to long to really play/sing live in sync. Yet still, it looks very much like every person is recorded while singing; so the video images are those of people (including Annie) singing live.

@@lynnehrgott3091 thanks, and: yep, I know. However, Dido’s Lament was not on the original release 10 years ago. So I wondered what @qpop means by writing “Annie's playback to the 10-years-old-track” in his above comment.

It is surely a testament to both the genius and emotive musicality of Purcell and the interpretative/performance skill of ms lennox that this baroque aria sounds so beautiful and striking in such an alternative style to that for which it was written. This is incredible.

Fantastic backing vocals by London City Voices who all learned their parts and recorded themselves remotely. What a moving performance by a group of people who have dealt with unique loneliness of not being able to sing together. Can’t wait for those vaccinations and the opportunity to see the wonderful LCV performing live again 💕

This song was played at my mother's funeral. After the coffin was lowered and we said our goodbyes and walked away, this music sounded across the cemetery. Still brings me to tears. We will remember her.

Thank you. I scattered my mothers ashes into my local creek("Noooo!... Duck, don't eat that, its not food...Oh, whatever... My mum would be proud. Life goes on...) ...However we are still here! And we have an obligation to leave the world at least alive (forget 'better', that's probably too hard...The powers that be, and all)... we can but try.

My sister impressed me on this woman... She is and always will be the g.o.a.t of music.
A lament for the planet but, given the times, poignant for the millions who've lost loved ones to covid. If there is a public Requiem for the lost once this pandemic is over, this rendition of Dido's Lament, sung with Annie's exquisite voice, would be perfect to include. I lost my father just before the virus to sepsis, an awful condition growing in prevalence, and he suffered greatly. Purcell's words are the universal last words all of us would wish to say to the loved ones we leave behind.

Wow gave me goosebumps , my husband edited a small zoom video for my daughters recorder ensemble so we know how much work goes into this
