And I'm from Finland. Many of us finnish folk know her because of the Gathering. Our most famous band globally is Nightwish and the Gathering and Anneke were in the middle of the 90's one the big reasons this female fronted heavymetal scene got popular. They, alongside with early 90's gothic/doom metal with this "beauty and the beast" image paved way for it. Unfortunately The Gathering didn't suit that image, but Anneke is still often mentioned as "mother" of those more famous singers.

I just love her voice... And even if I don't know her, I think she is a great Artist with no fear to take the chance and risk it all, just for the joy of making music... There are only 2 genres for me...Music I like, music that I don't like, that's all :) Because it's just a dumb thing, don't listen to something you like just because is not rock or metal or anything it's too sad...music world it's just too big and vast, why can't we enjoy the huge talents like this woman?

I could go on and on about something Gathering-related.....But I'm having way too much fun watching this. This song rocks. And so does the video. And when I want that serious side, well the Gathering records and DVD's are still there in my recordshell. What a woman.

I agree with Franz2099 . I have been a fan of Anneke's for over 15 years and yes, the work she is doing now, while perhaps more personally fulfilling to herself to the radio, comes nowhere close to the pure musicality and emotion of what she achieved with The Gathering. That being said, this is the best song on her new album, and the best since she went solo (not including her work with Devin Townsend - which is phenomenal). In comparison, however, The Gathering continues to put out REAL music.

Don't put words on my mouth. If Anneke wanted to keep making metal, she sure would have done it. If I was a singer, I'd feel SAD for "fans" who think I'm limited to one style and don't like to see me find my voice doing things I like, they're not MY fans, they simply like the style. If you only see "emptiness" on works like In Your Room, then go back to The Gathering. I RESPECT Anneke for being a singer who loves what she does, not as a metal singer, it's too narrow. THIS is what I've said.

You’re welcome. Been listening to the Gathering & Anneke for a few years now and I also like Arjen Lucassen, Devin Townsend and Anathema and Anneke has done collaborations with all of them. Actually now I'm looking forward for her next record with Devin, called Epicloud, the first one, called Addicted! is one of my favourite records.

While some need to "deal with her new direction" others need to stop complaining about why people dislike the new album. It's not about"heavy stuff" vs. "pop stuff", it's about quality. And some people are clearly unhappy with the QUALITY of the songs. Anneke doesn't need everyone to like her songs, but as a long term fan, I feel the right to express my opinion and I think the point of having a "comment" option is to express it, wether you like it or not.
