After thirteen years as the front woman for melancholic metallers, The Gathering, Anneke van Giersbergen struck out on her own in 2007. Since then, her creativity has known no bounds. Anneke quickly solidified a successful solo career (initially under the moniker Agua de Annique), and has recorded and performed with Canadian metal genius Devin Townsend multiple times. She has also lent her serene yet powerful voice to the likes of: Anathema, Icelandic folk group Árstíðir, Within Temptation, Ayreon mastermind Arjen Lucassen, Amorphis, and prog legend John Wetton.
In 2021, she released a new solo album: ‘The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest’, her 23rd career album. It proves, once again, that the award-winning Dutch artist defies being pigeonholed by any genre.

About 2 Meter Sessions
====================
Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zealand band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

I'm completely 100% serious when I say I've rarely heard a more pure voice than @AguaDeAnniqueMusic, for years I've been mesmerised by this voice. It keeps stunning me. I dare to say there are very few people that sing this accurate ❤🎶

Today (08/03) is her Birthday and I discovered her beautifull songs and incredible Voice. Amazing!
The Dutch metal Goddesses understand how to radiate emotions into their listeners. Anneke is a prime example of that. Gorgious to listen to and even so gorgious to look at. Like with Floor about 15 million men would like to marry her 😅. And to stay humble, down to earth, remaining faithfull to yourself, under that pressure of popularity, that's an art of living. Like a good wine, she gets and sounds more beautiful by the years. A big thank you Anneke!!
Thats quite a concert, the performance, the compositions, the recording and production, the video... all perfect!
From entering a band that was struggling and being the game changer that made them and her a household name to actually being one of thee greatest singer, songwriter, entertainer performers of our time. We are very lucky to be alive while she is in her prime.

I love Anneke's voice. But I miss her low notes too. She is totally capable to use low notes too, but my impression is that has been many years she don't use and abuse of them, lolol (Since "The Gathering"....) I miss it!

Ye, Anneke hasn't sung a lot in dutch, but on a few occassions she did.
