man i miss this series, I remember the good old days catching this after high school school on Toonami! This was on Toonami about 3 to 4 years ago so I still remember everything. Tokyo Ghoul in 2 weeks!

Thank you! This video and these comments have be very helpful for me in determining which video discs to buy.

Haven't seen the series yet, but apparently for the Blu-Ray release they couldn't get the license back for some of the original theme songs like the Queen-inspired one, they are all going to use Big-O! Show Must Go On for the opening meanwhile the original DVD releases use the original opening.

my brother bought the anime legends dvd sets during Bandai was shutting down told him buy them quick before there rare. maybe myself I'll getting the complete collection blu ray. didn't watch when was on toonami back in the day. my brother loves big o it's wanna his favorites. awesome review bdub.

Links595 You're better off with a release other than Bandai releases anyway. All their stuff from the early 00s didn't age well at all in terms of picture clarity.

Hey, Just wondering do you have any of those DBZ movie 2 packs on blu ray? I was thinking of upgrading and wondering if the quality was better. I know FUNimation and DBZ blu rays are eh. But I was wondering if those were any good. Can't find too much info on them online.

The Blu-rays are better in terms of video and HD sound quality. The DVD versions are still good too.

I got that Sentai blu-ray set but I just double dipped for the Big O 20th Anniversary Steelbook as well.

I'd buy it

Yes and do one speed racer that coming out next month.

big o season 2 is probably one of the most important peices of anime history as it experiments with biblical influences and the great lie of history that the earth is not a sphere but rather flat. as explimplified with the domes and the ceiling breaking and falling in one episode. the last episode portrays the darkness vs the light as angel erases mankind and restarts the clock. as explained by God in the bible He to shall do the same after the 7 year war after the rapture. its very unique and truman esque. i think adult swim did an excellent job of taking an otherwise giant robot concept and actually doing something original with it. defintley didnt get all the praise it should have. as far as a season 3 which was originally planned i dont think there's really anything else to say. which is fine id like to think its perfect the way it is and it leaves enough mystery for any viewer to come back to and explore. the idea of less is more has always been a scarce theme in anime. which is ironic as anime was originally designed to be an experimental medium. as was film. but of course as everything always is exploitation for monitery gain has engulfed this industry and thats why were getting new season fo flcl and code geass -_- otherwise perfect anime that need nothing added to them. ill stop rambling. will pass on the bluray as i wasnt a fan of the bebop bluray i rather like the grainyness older anime have.

the earth being flat isn't a "lie of history". People didn't go around lying that the Earth was flat. The fact is that we just didn't know until we discovered that it was spherical. We didn't know what space was like or what the moon was made of until we got to it. Remember that we see history in pages in a textbook and can jump around and through it quickly. But if you put yourself back in those times without the knowledge we have now, good luck trying to prove to people that were raised for generations hypothesizing that the Earth was indeed flat, that it is in fact spherical.

These DVD vs. BluRay videos are cool but a bit superfluous as BluRay releases will look better than DVD releases. I really should watch Big O on BluRay. I don't think I've seen the series from beginning to end. I've seen a few episodes randomly on Toonami years ago.

I know BluRay releases will look better than DVD releases lol, but some fans like to see the difference either way so the videos aren't superfluous in any way. Plus comparing the old vs new is fun.

They made a steelbook release for this i have to grab it.

Trying to replace most of my Bandai releases from early 2000s. Mainly Gundam. Man did those Anime legends sets not age well.
