    Just finished this game. As someone who identifies as a surface level gamer and has never played these types of games before I had low expectations. 20 hours later and I'm obsessed. This game has single handedly shown me a whole new world of gaming. Thank you Billy for making this masterpiece! 10/10

    Such an ambitious game for sure. Brings me back to Super Mario World and Metroid, definitely see SMB2 inspiration too! Being a creative genius is quite underrated - remember how awesome you are to have made this - and now anyone can enjoy it?! Wild. Did a quick sequence break (last video) but it’s not a big glitch lol. Rumble persists thru pause screen (simple fix) and for accessibility swap bubble pixel art (flipped) to tell an emitted bubble from a B.Wand bubble.

    He needn't have been worried about the sound design, it's SO good :) Love that he didn't use a ton of music.

    Bummed it’s not on Xbox. Must be the series s holding it back. Surely you could click in a joystick to bring up a hand on screen instead of the touchscreen control parts.

    Incredible game, but the price is too high. This should have been 17.99 tops for what it is. I guess devs learnt nothing from Vampire Survivors? Make the price a non-issue and the game sells like crazy. For this price point, you're competing with titles like Helldivers 2 or No Rest Ror The Wicked. Stuff with way more content.

  • @Caliboyjosh10

    It's success proves otherwise. Alot of people pay for experiences, not content, and Animal Well is worth the price.

  • @Cimlite

    @@Caliboyjosh10 Just because you can charge X amount, doesn't mean you should. And success is relative, if the price point was a bit lower it could have sold significantly more overall. The launch window is the single most important time for a game release by far, and a too high price point can kill momentum.

  • @oowaz

    @@Cimlite maybe, i think you're overestimating how many people like metroidvania tho. also your comparison with vampire survivors is not exactly fair - vampire survivors isn't just popular because it's cheap, the game has a strong premise and appeal that managed to carve an audience that really cares about it deeply and basically explode in popularity from word of mouth, it's an exceptional game and its viral strategy goes way beyond pricing

  • @Cimlite

    @Cimlite

    Күн бұрын

    @@oowaz Absolutely, but even the VS developer himself was surprised about the success. Same as with Balatro for example. The devs of those games thought they would sell a small amount of copies, but due to the games being innovative, fun and having a price point where people didn't have a problem taking a chance, they instead ended up being smash hits. I'm not saying price is the end all, be all. But for games like this, where many players will look at it and think it looks like something from 30 years ago... that price tag will be a big obstacle. I'm sure it's selling well regardless, but I'm also equally convinced it would have made more money overall at a lower price point.

  • @oowaz

    @oowaz

    @Cimlite price will go down with time tho, and with BIGMODE (dunkey's publisher) helping out the game will have a high visibility it wouldn't have otherwise (which probably had some weight in terms of final cost). i'm not saying you're wrong btw, it's possible that lower cost would've led more sales, maybe in the long run it won't matter due to a potential cap in terms of interest in this genre, the simplicity of the graphics and other factors (puzzle game, no combat, no humans represented) that make the game a bit niche
