This video went through many incarnations in that time. At first, I was going to go into depth about every ARG puzzle in this one video, but new ones kept happening, so I waited and just casually worked on the video until the latest big ARG and Videogamedunkey announcement. It felt like a good time to finally get this out.

I don't really enjoy solving this kind of stuff myself (I'm too literal of a thinker), but I love hearing about how people solve ARGs. So yes I'd watch more videos about the previous ARGs.

I’ve been watching this vid for a while trying to find the secret. The most promising thing I found was at 7:57 he had a tab open that said “check files for metadata info” In his videos he had seemingly random files titled 00000000, 000000, 0000, 000, 00, 01. It’s probably nothing though.

Yessss so glad to see you talk about this, was hooked as soon as I saw the trailer for this and figured it’d be the kind of game you’d make a vid about! Looks incredible for sure 👀

Stuff like this makes me nostalgic and sad. When I was a kid I used to make mazes and riddles in book form, you couldn't advance until you solved the puzzle. Then as a teen I stared to learn programming and did more of it in school. Next I learneddome art. I had grand designs about making something like this, a game filled with mazes and riddles. But all that was obliterated when mt schizophrenic suddenly appeared. Well, not suddenly it started small but after a few months I was institutionalized and diagnosed. I haven't been able to do anything puzzle related as it somehow triggers my schizophrenia, I did do a lot of art for a while including pixel art (the are here on KZread, not my best work as I was in crisis and fly-away psychotic for much of it) to cope with my illness and the fact my life is pretty much over. I will never finish the grand project I studied so hard for. I won't play the game featuring in the video, it would be too painful and I don't really get anything from games, but I'm glad the game exists and I will buy it.

I think Animal Well looks amazing, sounds amazing, and I bet it'll be a joy to play! I will not be playing it. I have an intrinsic desire, more a need, even, to do EVERYTHING in a game- I 100% basically everything I play. And I... Am not smart. So there's not a chance in hell I'll be able to play Animal Well if there are hidden secrets in puzzles in mazes in clues like this- I'm just not smart enough to handle it. Same with Noita! This isn't a bad thing, though- because I love your videos like this, Fury, and I'll keep watching them as long as you keep watching them. Because I love seeing the puzzles solved and what come of them, I love the secondhand joy. Please tell us about the 6 other ARGs!

I love this. I never imagined I'd get to see a (fairly removed) but still close to a crossover between my favorite game critic "dunkey", and one of my favorite youtubers. Truly a great video.

I would love to see a breakdown of all of the ARG puzzles! These kind of secret finding missions always are so intriguing and it would be so cool to see how you got to the end

8:29 you don't see fluid dynamics like this in games a lot. Last one I can remember was Plasma Pong or Ichor from the 2000's.

What are good ongoing ARGs? I would have been super interested in this if the video came out while there was still ARG stuff to complete. Would have loved to see this video months ago so viewers who hadn’t heard of AW could have participated, rather than just get a recap after the ARG has been solved.

There will almost certainly be more. There’s been one a month, so I’m thinking there will be, at the very least, a big one around the game’s release.

I really shouldn't be surprised, but I'm surprised to see La Mulana make an appearance in this video

Nice to see La Mulana appear, as that series has always been the gold standard for this type of game imo. Are you ever planning to make on video on the LM games?

Fury mentioned he hid his own ARG, at 7:19 there's a list of tabs and one of them mentions the Playfair cipher. Perhaps it's related? but I can't think of anywhere a 5x5 grid shows up in the video

Just a note, a common way to fill out a playfair square is to use a word or phrase and fill out the square in reading order, and then filling with the rest of the alphabet

I found out about the game a few days ago and put it on my wishlist thinking it was just a metroidvenia game,but after looking more information i am very exited for the games release

Has anybody figured out the ARG in the video? Potential spoilers for anybody interested in finding it on their own: so far all I see is : what may be morse code at 0:08 and 7:40 an interesting amount of info when showing the stickers at 7:25 - 5595 and the lines on the bottom right the tabs left open when using google such as at 4:20 5:16 7:12 7:58 potentially unrelated but also wanted to mention the other downloads at 5:16 such as the hide_no_seek_card.png I have also neglected to check the description, audio, and any metadata so there may be secrets there I am too lazy to look any further so: If anybody has found more info that I have missed or solved any of the ARG content please leave a comment under mine and I may update this comment

the segments at 0:08 and 7:40 are both from the game trailer idk if the stickers are fury's and if they are idk what to make of the numbers and lines idk what to make of the open tabs either. the "playfair cyper" one might be something but the other ones seem to be just what fury had open at the time hide_no_seek_card.png is from a "Kloonigames" post (one of Noita's devs i think?) from the 10th of january i dont think we cant get the metadata of the video? idk how youtube works i couldnt find anything else T_T

I have, yes. Great game. Though playing the first 6 hours or so on stream was not the best choice for me. I didn't enjoy it on stream and then it took me almost a year to get back to it and finally experience it on my own. I'm glad I did, though!

I came up with the concept of lsb steganography a few days ago, and you're telling me it already exists! That's really cool, but also slightly annoying!

I am cursed to be terrible at solving these kinds of puzzles, but endlessly interested in games that include an enormous number of secrets.

Although I prefer when games mostly have their secrets within the game, I suppose after how addicted I got to noita that this game will probably be one I'll have to pick up

The game itself is (as far as we know so far) going to be filled with secrets. There might not actually be ARG stuff post-release. That was just a guess based on what the developer said about the third layer of secrets.

The ARG idea came about when Billy and I were brainstorming about how best to communicate the nature of some of the puzzles within the game without spoiling the game itself. We hit on the idea of embedding similar style puzzles in lots of our official communications like videos and blog posts. It's been so much fun watching the Discord community just devour them!

This looks really cool but I still don't know anything about the game after watching this video! So I made up the gameplay myself in my imagination. This is clearly a pixel art spiritual successor to the "Creatures" games. Ok, probably not, but anyways you've piqued my interest lol.

I'm Gonna enjoy being apart of something currently happening. I joined noita a bit late after a couple of months of on and off 30 mins of playtime. not really discovering secrets until after they had been resolved. Ill pop into the discord tomorrow and start the decent into madness mwhahahaah.

During the Isaac ARG I heard that there were a few others in several different indie games. It seems like they finally came together.

The art style and ambiance reminds me of rainworld

its a game made for streamers. playing games like this is like doing a college dissertation. its decadent, but i would love to watch vids on it, mayyyyybe play it myself if the surface level is fun (ala noita)

Well, long before I made videos or streamed, I wasted many hours trying to find secrets in games. The gameplay itself should be fun, though. The developer has a lot of experience working in game dev for AAA companies (this is just his first solo/indie project) so I feel confident he'll make it a fun game. All the other stuff is just extra for crazy people like me.

I actually haven't played this game at all. Nobody has except for the internal testers and those who have gone to Pax and GDC. It's just a game that I've been looking forward to for awhile and I've been on the Discord solving the ARG stuff with the community.

I hope the secrets won't be as obscure and random as Noita. There's very little chance of figuring most noita secrets by just playing normally

I'm very concerned about the health of the game, having a big ARG end up letting people "win" makes it a competition and means people have 0 incentive to share information now. Especially since the ending bit was relatively simple so those who did most of the work were unlikely to be able to get the reward. Sharing information means you are exponentially less likely to win. A lot of people are discouraged from sharing anything now. Can you be sure with anything in Animal Well it is or isn't an ARG? Noita was self contained which made it work well. Can you be sure with anything in Animal Well it is or isn't an ARG? This not only makes it a paid ticket into an ARG but also would deny console. I hope the game itself is good and hasn't bitten off more then it can chew.

I wouldn’t be overly concerned. The ARGs have been happening for the past 7 months, and the entire Discord community has worked together to solve every one of them so far. There will always be some who might want to lone wolf it, but the community that has been built so far through these ARGs are all very team spirited. It’s been a great experience on the Discord server.

Nope. Of course not. It's admittedly a very small hint in a video full of secrets and hints and ARG puzzles, but it exists outside of the game in this video. The ARG I've been running on my channel for a long time has some people stuck in various spots, so I thought I'd throw them another bone in this one to see if I can get them up to speed with a couple others who are further along. I need a few people to eventually solve it. I play nicely with these sorts of things.
