I've been obsessed with AW since it's launch and have been going back and watching every video on it I can. Saw the part in this video with the chord progression so I paused the video, booted up the game and played those notes on the Animal Flute and got a reward. Pretty cool! This game never fails to impress.

Looking back on it, yes, it seems a lot more obvious. But at the time, it definitely wasn't as simple as it seemed in the video. Things were discovered hours/days apart.

Could have sworn there was morse code in the last video

There were videos with flashing images which reminded me of morse code as well

Suprised that they were stumped by the Canon chord progression one, that seems like one of the few I could solve myself in this video. I guess it's because most of them know a lot about computers and such and not music theory.

This is why I'm so excited for Animal Well! Some of the secrets and puzzles are supposed to be hidden for years, if not forever. So even you might stumble upon a secret that nobody else has seen, years after the game's release.

I really like args and stuff,but i never participated in them due to being unable to because of It needing a program (like Photoshop for image claring or having It be a game thing for a game im too poor to buy)... Honestly i should probably try to change that...

you don't need photoshop, there are plenty of free photo editing programs, krita or gimp should have you covered.

Gimp is a pretty good free image editor. I used it for the uncompromising mode trailer shadow ARG.

These videos always me me feel stupid

Genuine question, how is anybody outside of the weirdos that dedicate themselves to ARG content suppose to actually do any of this? Can anybody actually explain how one would learn that the old man in that drawing is responsible for a cipher, much less that one could recognize his likeness on sight to be able to realize his random drawing was the clue to one of these? Are there people that just stare for hours at gifs and inspect webpage code on the off chance that they find one of these? Do people just input any and all string of random looking text into urls and ciphers and programs in the hopes that they actually turn into something? It's not like these were all announced as the starts of ARGs, so is there someone who's going to spend an hour+ obsessing over my comment if I just do this at the end? x81tramflow112xck

The developer said, "there's a puzzle in this video." So it didn't take long to find the URL on the computer, which led us to a cipher. After looking at a cipher solving website and trying to figure out what kind of cipher it was, someone said, "hey, that picture on the wall is Vigenere - it's a Vigenere cipher!" After that first puzzle was solved, the very next blog post *said* that there were going to be more ARG puzzles in blog and social media posts. So, basically every time a post was made by them, yes, we'd check it for clues. There is an entire community of people on the Discord server of this game. As soon as a blog post happened, we were like, "Alright! Start looking!" Usually a good ARG will tell you that it's an ARG, and a lot of them use very similar techniques. If you've been a part of one, then you already have a lot of the toolset necessary to take part in another. It only sounds difficult and confusing if you've never taken part in one, pretty much. But, yeah, there are a lot of people who really enjoy code breaking, image manipulation, searching audio for spectrogram images/messages, etc. It's like a game genre unto itself! It's important to note, though, that a lot of this stuff is actually meant to be a community game. You're meant to work together with other people to solve it, and everyone has their own knowledge to bring to the table. Games like Tunic and Fez even make that "ARG-style" puzzle solving part of the actual game (though, only necessary for a second ending, not necessary for most who just want to beat the game normally.) And Animal Well is very inspired by Fez.

But what if there was a 7th?

If there are more before release (I think there will be at least one more, to celebrate the release) then I might make a video going over them.

Honestly, this is steering me towards skipping the game. ARGs or puzzles that require a community to solve always put me off. It's unlikely that I'll be able to contribute when it's active, and when it's over I'll be stuck with a section I'll have to read a walkthrough on a wiki page to complete.

The developer has said that he's developing the game so that if the internet ceased to exist the day after it was released, the entire thing could be enjoyed for years - with new discoveries being made that whole time. So I wouldn't worry too much about that. It should be crammed full of multiple layers of secrets actually in-game.

having completed the game, i can say that there are definitely secrets in the game that were intended for the developer's discord server to solve. it is even actually impossible to solve at least one of the puzzles on your own, just one copy of the game literally won't have all of the required information.

@@Slukke I've just finished with it myself, since it was included with a subscription. I ended up needing the internet for 3 trophies towards the platinum. The game has a problem I fully expected. I spent a long time solving a puzzle which got me no real reward, but one of the items I needed to progress was locked behind a puzzle that may as well have been invisible to me. Having layers of puzzles when I'm only interested in the surface means the game is full of distractions.

I ain't thumbs'n nuffin up, I'll comment. but no thumbs up for you. o_O if you have to ask, you don't deserve it.
