    Hi Pete hope you are keeping well mate. Another superb finish from our friendly gun collector😁love that colour Pete there is just enough candy on there to give it a nice purple colour and what you have done is pretty close to the finish you get on the TVR's they have some really nice colours on them. It's been a while since I've used my ANI R150 you may remember that I couldn't get on with it that well but after you told me about the pressure needed to get a good finish the gun is totally transformed, your R160 laid the base and candy really nice especially the candy as it put a nice even but thin coat down. I still haven't got the F160 which going by what you have done with it is a great gun to have for just about anything you want to paint, maybe I should stop buying these expensive guns then get a few cheaper ones to play around with🤔 thanks Pete👍 Oh and as others have said don't worry about the rambling mate as everything you say contains really good info, could be worse mate you could have people like me making long rambling comments🙄🤦‍♂🤪🤣

    Hi John, yes, it was a lovely finish, a small one and a little one for £220, can't be bad. I'm thinking a similar thing, I've got plenty of quality guns and have just ordered a few cheap guns to see how they go, after all, if we can get the same results with a cheap gun then it really does make you wonder why we pay all that money for the better ones. I realise it's not all just about the finish but to a lot of people watching our stuff they won't be painting that often so can't justify the heavy price tag, cheers mate 👍

    Maybe we should start a "Cheap and Cheerful" section for those that don't want to spend a lot on a gun but still want a gun they know can deliver a decent finish, that was my problem when I first started I bought a cheap gun and got terrible results but I didn't know if it was me or the gun that was the cause so I bought another gun which was a bit more money and again had terrible results.... rinse and repeat.... it wasn't until I got my first SRI ProLite that I realised I'm a crap painter🙄😭😂 Maybe have a limit of up to £40 to £50, don't know what's available within that price cap though🤔🤷‍♂

    Hi Pete, thanks as always for the great advice. I have noted the pressures you recommend but was Just wondering what you recommend the fluid volume to be at for the best results when using base and clear? Bought an r160 after watching this and planning on spraying for the first time with it tomorrow on a pair of side skirts.

  • @peteshobbies5383

    @peteshobbies5383

    20 күн бұрын

    Hi Mate, The R160 is a great little tool . For clear, I use 3.5 bar with the fluid wide open , for base around 2.5 to 2.6 bar , as far as material output it really does depend on what you are doing, what paint and color you are using and the substrate you have. As a guide, start at 2 out form fully closed . You will probably end up around 2 1/2 to 3 out, but see how it goes and what results you are getting. I hope that helps 👍

    Certainly, if I was designing a gun, I wouldn't put the fan control on the side, but having said that, if it's not in the way of the painters thumb, as some are, it's not a problem normally. I rather like your Meiji/Sata child analogie, which certainly made me smile 😃 Cheers mate 👍

  • @peteshobbies5383

    @peteshobbies5383

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Scott, good question, I'm trying to sort a video out which will explain it, it's just difficult thinking what form that will take. Normally, the higher the pressure the finer the atomisation will be, but, you will find the fan can separate top and bottom so you can overdo it. You can also get a dry application with too much pressure so you need to watch out for that as well, a lower pressure will give you more peel generally which can be needed to try and match existing paint, of course, materials, temperature, speed and distance from the work also play a part as do fan size on the gun
