I will never forget the first time I heard Ani Difranco randomly at a listening station in a Tower records. Remember those? I put the headphones on and the first song I heard was untouchable face and it blew my hair back. I bought all her records on the shelf that day and they became the soundtrack of my early 20's.

Damn, 25 years... I remember listening to this new, and hearing it live so many times, still one of my favorites. Really great to hear that the friend is doing well now. I my head I think I always thought of this as someone who was lost at the time.

You had me fooled on many overdubbed Studio performances that it wasn't a typical, locked in the groove, on the edge stage-type performance. But I'm sure it relaxes the vocal chords to be playing while singing (look at some PJ Harvey live performances.)
