@user-yf6tr2lh1f, If you're not familiar with 'feeling unsafe' then you are way out of touch to the modern College/University climate. I'm a Mom of 3 kids, one of who recently graduated. This whole generation talks about their feelings & how they need "safe spaces" There are constant discussions about having safe spaces. Unless they go to work in Silicon Valley, which makes sure they have plenty of safe spaces, they're going to have a real shock when they enter the work place. That's why they call this generation Snowflakes. We're in real trouble when this generation gets older. They are the most entitled generation which has ever existed in the history of the world & it's still not enough. They want to feel victimized. They are in for a shock. They are not prepared for dealing with the issues of life. I've tried to toughen my kids up but I don't have much hope for this generation on whole.

Then you haven't been paying attention and you do not know the extent of rights. The campus is private property. That means that the administrator/president of the college dictates who and what is allowed there. People do not have unlimited rights to do whatever they wish any place they want to. The administrator/president of the campus has asked them to remove the encampment, the students have not, so it does not matter if it is harming anyone or not, they are in violation. There have been physical assaults in these protests. Threats have been made against Jewish students... and Jewish students have been prevented from attending class as a result. So what they are doing is actually violating other people's rights... and the threats are illegal. This much has been highlighted on multiple media outlets... and I've seen it myself in random videos of the protest. It's not propaganda if it's true. Sure, some of it has taken place off campus... but all of these protests have clearly stated that they stand in solidarity with each other. Not a single one of them have denounced any of the bad things that have happened and that have been said. So they have aligned themselves with each other in that way. Guilty by association is a thing in this case. The chants and the banners... they say a lot more than what they say that they want here. Ultimately, it is the administration of the school's decision and if the students want to stay there, they will have to comply or possibly face being expelled and removed.

I admire these students. They are pure without fear. The fact that their opinions are not tied to their paychecks allows them to see things from an unbiased perspective. The fact that these kids read, and their parents don’t is the issue. The media is hoping the fear that many adults have because their livelihood is attached to their paychecks, will persuade the majority. Unfortunately the kids are right, we are supporting a genocide!!’

I am against our involvement in this conflict, Israel at best is making horrible choices. But the hostages are rarely mentioned by either side. And both sides seem to only further alienate each other. Even freedom of speech isn't a real topic. Camping out in public/private spaces seems to be the topic. All losera, no winners.

The hard core struck me as being professional grievance protestors or grievers in training. So many people with matching(!) tents and nothing better to do with their time, across dozens of universities at the same time. When I was in uni close to exams I only had time to eat, sleep, run and study. Mostly study. But for me an my peers, marks and subject matter knowledge mattered. Students in Critical [fill in the blank] Studies, Middle Eastern Studies and other trash humanities like Anthropology fit in perfectly. MSA, JVP and NION will be spreading this as far as possible with support from reprehensible "academics" from the above noted humanities. Is ANTIFA jumping on the bandwagon?

Yes, aside from the fact that she's a great intellect and journalist, and that I find myself always on her side of the debate, I've allowed myself, from time to time, almost unavoidably, to digress and reflect on the peculiar frequency with which she changes her appearance. I mean, this is sort of a trivial, inconsequential reflection in the midst of all this madness, and she is a beautiful woman anyway, in any form, but one cannot help but notice it.

If you notice these smart young people always bring it back around to topic. The encampments are in solidarity, so it is a form of protest. If you really cared for Gaza and the Palestinians, you would protest against Hamas. You would ask for the release of the hostages. So anything you are saying is total bull.

I argue that if any laws are broken it fails to be “peaceful”. Can’t break the law and infringe on others rights in the name of your own rights. Do things the right way. Get permits. Alert the cops of your presence so it’s not a surprise. People act differently when surprised. I know you want to protest and its your right. But what about the right of the entire university to have a safe peaceful place to learn. These things always do more harm than good.
