Awesome story. I am sure there are plenty of friendly people like your dad. There are even elderly people who just want someone to talk to. The problem I see here is that these "fishermen" choose not to be respectful when someone is clearly aggrivated by it. They choose to stay in the fight so they can attract viewers who could otherwise care less about their fishing. A true sportsman and gentleman would say they didn't realize it was bothering them and let them k ow they will move on. Situation easily resolved. Of course a true professional angler wouldn't be lazy fishing along private docks. These are just youtubers angling for a view and a like.

While casting they would get fish hooks caught in the seats of our boat and while trying to get the hook out, they would rip the seats. They would also continually bump into our boat. To begin with, anytime you want someone to do something for you, especially when you don't have a legal leg to stand on, you don't start out acting like an "entitled male Karen". Secondly, when you buy a property, it doesn't come with ANY water. Know that!I can't think of any damage a lure will do to your dock, except cause an inexperienced angler to retrieve his stuck lure. SO WHAT! Don't be a jerk! You'd be smart to simply make your property fishing friendly. Remove all cushions when they're not being used and etc. Try being a nice person, you'll be surprised how far it will get you, and you'll feel so much better for it, not to mention, now maybe you have another angler or two who will keep an eye on your property when you may not be around! Let's get along!

More and more...they are being bought out by rich disrespectful and very "entitled" city C__NTS who race their sports cars or huge SUVs on the back roads so that they can then race their jet skis and blast their music from 1/4 million dollar Wake Boats that erode the shoreline and turn the tranquil places they covet into just one more vacation home where they can "Flex" to showoff their toys to their other entitled friends. I'm a fisherman who avoids people docks , here' why. I used to own a lakehouse, fisherman can be real tools themselves. They hook your dock with treble hooks for you to step on , hook your boat covers and tear them trying to get their lures back , when your sitting having a conversation on your dock they will come up and fish just to piss people off, no other reason but to start a confrontation . This is why some of the dock owners go mental. I also own ski boats , when I am in it i get harassed by fisherman who think they own the lake. When in my bass boat they act normal. Some people go out of their way to piss off anyone who is not a fisherman. As much as i like to fish, allot of fisherman are just complete Aholes who think they own the lake, exactly what they accuse the property owners of.

I had a time or two where they would call a cop and I would talk, very calmly, to the cop and he would explain it to the dock owner, YOU DON'T OWN A PUBLIC WATERWAY!! You own the land up to the edge of the water, but not a lake OR the lake under YOUR dock. Most dock owners understand this and I've had a few come out, very friendly, and talk with me. Why can't people just try to get along with other people?? I think it's that "God complex" that some people get when they talk about THEIR property. God is the one who REALLY owns it and he just lets us use it for a while.

I fish a local public lake from the bank that is only about 200yds from my house, on one occasion a woman came right up next to me and started feeding the ducks bread and caused absolute mayhem, there are signs everywhere saying feeding the ducks and swans is not permitted, bread is bad for them and also they start fighting, the lake is massive yet she chose to come and feed the ducks right next to me, there were no ducks in the area I was fishing, they followed her as she was walking along the bank, luckily the water baliff was in the area and saw what she was up to and he took her details and kicked her off the lake and I suspect she was fined.

Nothing like taking the kids down for a boat ride & finding piles of fish guts blood stains & trash all over your dock lol. (regular occurrence) I went up there once & was fishing off the dock waiting for him so we could hit the lake & 2 guys in a boat were fishing the dock. 1 hooked my bosses boat cover with a shitty cast. Then after yanking a 2 inch hole in it that matched the other 3 similar holes from previous fishermen, despite me telling him I'd get it out he trolled over & smacked into the boat lol. I spoke up only to be threatened cursed at & flipped off in 2 languages. We called on them but nothing ever happened. I agree Scott, it's about respect, whether you are on the land with a dock in the water or in the water casting around someones dock. As much as we want to believe that every fisherman respects someones property, that is just not the case- I am not defending this particular person, he certainly was not respectful to the guys in the boat. However, it is a two way street and he may have had an experience similar to what your boss experienced, which right or wrong would tend to cause some aggravation. My dad has a small camp on a small lake in east texas, he has a trot line in the water with jugs about every 5ft from the bank- he has had guys troll right through this line about 10 times in the past few years even though the line is very clear to see- I told him to go to tractor supply and pick up some stainless steel cable and let em run through that - again - its a 2 way street

Why should anyone be allowed to build a private dock on public property. If you are using a public waterway for your private use.suck it up buttercup you do not get to have private use of public property

Some places the dock owners should beware of harassing fisherman such as my state the law reads that any structure affixed to the bank of public water is automatically the property of the state. But every one still treats it as private property any way as far as I know I hav`nt heard of any one contesting the law but it`s clearly in print.

Came over from Russell's channel. I usually try to avoid people if they are out on their docks. That guy seemed like he just wanted to get into a fight. Good they set him straight. 👍
