Anger, frustration from Hambrick's family as former MNPD officer gets three year sentence

The three-year sentence for former Metro Nashville Police officer Andrew Delke was met with anger and frustration from the family of Daniel Hambrick, leading to an emotional outburst that caused the courtroom to be emptied during Friday's plea hearing.

Actually plea deals are pretty common especially when the offender is has no criminal record and when the DA feels the odds of a conviction might be low. I believe they said they thought they had a 50/50 chance and unfortunetly the DA office only cares about getting conviction whether it's by jury or plea deal, they just care about numbers not the scope of the punishment. Again with the defendant having no criminal record or even a history of bad behaviour as a police officer he has no grounds to decline the plea deal.

While I feel for the family, why did the person disrespect an officer of the law to begin with and then run. What was he hiding, why did he make a choice that he knew would affect him poorly. I cannot get behind an injured party that purposely brings harm to themselves. Blaming someone committed to protect the rest of us from this kind of behavior should be commended. If you don't want adverse action then behave, period. He made the choice to run and paid for it. Sad but it was his choice. Let it be a lesson to respect authority. I feel bad for the mother but wonder in the end how she really brought this child up if this is how he made his choices. I don't know anyone who would make the choice to run from an officer. For her to act like she did was unacceptable and is not taking responsibility for what her son's part was. Seems like no one wants to take responsibility anymore. Very sad case but in the end, the son brought it all on himself.

This is SO wrong! I feel for this family When my husband was murdered ( he was a police officer) they didn't ask me before they accepted a plea for his killer. I didn't know until we came for the second day of the trial. My victim advocate told me the prosecutor is more about their win/loss total then justice for the family. I had watched too much law and order. I learned real quick. My husband's murderer got more than 3 years..he got 8. and his killer randomly shot into the crowd,, injured 4 other people and the bullet ripped through my husband's heart and killed him. All that and he only got 8 years. I tried so hard to save him but he bled out in about 2 minutes. I'll be traumatize for life and he will only have to serve 85% of his sentence before eligible for parole.

The number one violated her constitutional right / before the lawyer made a deal they should have talked to her first that was her son life they took - and I do not believe he had a gun the police put a gun on him they've been doing it for years to black people's ) and the judge should not accept that so now I know how a black juice don't like it on black people's because you know that was wrong you are judge and you know that violated her constitutional right,/ all you need is the judge name when it's time to vote again the judge be Vote Off the Bench Vote Out - mayfly with his name on it and vote him off the bench,

Not informing the family of a plea deal is absolutely disgusting, and then to add injury to insult they gave him three years only to let his ass out early on “good behaviour” but let someone go take his life and see how quickly the energy would be different.
