Suspicious Minds” was written by Mark James. James was playing on his Fender guitar and Hammond organ pedals and came up with a melody. The storyline of the song is based on James’ personal experience. He was married but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart who was also married. James’ wife was suspicious of him. James felt all three of them were “caught in this trap that they could not walk out of.” “Suspicious Minds” captures the mistrust of the circumstance and what they needed to do to move on. Rolling Stone reports that James recorded a track of the song for Scepter Records in 1968 that had a country take. His version did not chart.

The original didn’t need new life as you put it. What Angelina did was give it a different version, which in my opinion as humble as it may be is absolutely Fantastic, she is an awesome talent with outstanding vocals. I’m a massive a Elvis fan, I’m also a massive Angelina fan. I’d love her to do her take on “in the Ghetto”

AJ sings songs of old stars that made music available for Main Street. Jazz, soul and now rock from Elvis. When you look at Angelina when she sing these songs is like you can see these musicians soul in her face. Just think of Elvis and look at this video once more. I think she finds a way to connect with songs, other than her original, 'Million Miles' which may have been too emotional to fully let loose emotionally on, she is often stretching to find the emotional inspiration I am guessing, and doing an amazing job doing so. I suspect you are right, if it is both too big and painful for her, and she still lets herself draw from it, we may all feel it in an overwhelming fashion. Some of us may die. A good way to go. One thing is clear, she correctly identified that connecting with the song helps us connect to her performances, and makes sure to do that as best she can. Knowing that is maybe the most important part of the equation in singing or acting. Or art and entertainment in general.

All I got to say- I cried from the first note till the last! First, this brought back memories of my youth so many years ago, of listening to Elvis every minute I could, of going to his movies, going to a couple of his concerts, and luckily getting to meet him! To me he was the best! That is till 8 years ago and I heard a little 8 year old Angelina doing things with her voice that should not have been possible. She is now (IMHO) THE BEST EVER!! And this song is now the best she has ever done!

first to say this is a maybe educated guess or speculation of me without proof at all how Angelina goes into a new Cover - i think first she read the lyrics and Prozesses them in her Magic mind how the meanig can be expressed the most sincere - than she works out a melody to it and fusion lyrics and music together - at last she listened to the Real music and choose how that fit best and in this Video you see the conclusion - imho Angelina will be the Goat in the music books to come

Easily overlooked is the bookend emotive piano by Rob Christie. The melancholy chords and gentle intro and ending set up the sentiment of the song and complement Angelina's singing beautifully.
