She had just turned 9 when she wrote the arrangement for her band and recorded this. She started writing her own arrangements at age 8 after not being happy with a musician on norways got talent which she won at age 7. She stated studio recording at age 6. She started singing jazz at 18 months old.. her grandmother is iranian artist Mery zamani and used to troll music stores with angelina for jazz records.

Wait until you see her at age 7 on Norway's got Talent. She not only got a standing ovation her first time out, She made judges cry.

When you said how she matched her vocals to the music here, that was a little backwards. She arranged the music to fit her vocals. The intro to this performance shows the bandleader smiling at the changes Angelina is requesting for the musical arrangement. To give you an idea of how impressive her arranging is and to show you what she’s like now at 14 years old, watch Bohemian Rhapsody. Also, the mug she holds up at the beginning of this video is a picture of Screamin Jay Hawkins who wrote and performed this in the 1950’s. Angelina’s performance is a tribute to Hawkins original. This is a one-off, unusual performance for Angelina. She sings in many genres beautifully. You’ll find this hard to believe since you’ve watched only this song, but Angelina is one of the world’s best vocalists. Angelina dedicates the song to her grandfather, strips the song down to raw emotion, and she just kills it. And at the end she can’t really finish the last lines because of that genuine emotion that flows out of her into the lyrics.

All true. Her more recent guitarist is Steve Conte. Nothing against him, but I love Ivan Mendez more. That heartbreaking song for her grandpa was so well accompanied by his tone and thoughtful presence. Truly something to behold.

Just a tiny correction; she did the arrangement for Bohemian Rapsody at 13 and the recording of AGT champ was in 3 mnths before turning 14 this year.

@@DrChill2 She was 9. there is video of her recording this and others between the ages of 6 and 9 years old/ she won Norways got talent when she was 7. She had turned 8 by the time it aired, but was only 7 when she actually won.

Screamin' Jay Hawkins wrote and performed it in '56. And she understands what it means, on some level. She arranges all of her stuff too. Obviously the band respects her, and she's 9--in Norway. What were we doing when we were 9?

Angelina is different from other child singers. Firstly she loves jazz and the old classics. Thats how she started. She even went in the old record shops looking at old vinyl records when she was little cause she loves Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra etc. She sings with her soul. She has so much feelings in her voice. She doesnt need to sing the highest notes like all other child singers to impress, she can sing the deepest notes and also high, but her delivery and how she tells the story of each song (even if she hardly knows the song) is incrdible. Her covers are better than the originals. You should react to her cover of Lana del Rey «Born to die», Adele «A million miles», Miley Cyrus «Nothing breaks like a heart» for a start (I think she was 12 in all of them). The most recent is from her American got talent - the champions addition where she sang «Bohemian rapsody» as her first and «Goodbye yellow brick road» as the second.

Angelina and the young girl had a conversation. Angelina was 6 years old at the time. The girl had no shoes and had scars on her feet and Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl said she would pray for Angelina. To this day Angelina sings barefoot until all the world's children can have shoes and for the less fortunate in society. She has sung barefoot in public since that day and has even sung barefoot in December in Norway.

When I first heard this song I was struck in lighting I thought well I have to go back and start from the beginning at 7yr old and I have been watching her since then, can you believe a 9yr old picked that song and arrange the music the way she wanted it. Angelina won Norway's got talent at age 7. She sings with such maturity about subjects that she has yet to experience. I know she does gloomy Sunday. She just has a huge catalog. She was on America's got talent the champions season 2. She does her own take on bohemian rhapsody. After hearing it queen called her up and gave her their blessing. She then did goodbye yellow brick road. After AGT she finally signed with republic records. Her Most recent, very recent, video is million miles which she Wrote. Even on this song those notes at the beginning are what she wants the band to do. Screaming jay Hawkins I guess was the 1st person to do this and that's the face that is on the candle she holds up at the beginning.

She re-writes and/or re-arranges every song she sings to give it that "Angelina Touch". She knows the exact formula of how much she needs to "Angelina-ize" her voice, tone, inflection, emotion, persona and volume with different proportions to perfectly fit every song she sings! She has mastered the art of making her version of a song unique, yet showing complete respect for the Original.

Angelina is a Vocal Goddess. She is PERFECTION every time she sings.

She is 9 years old here. Shock yourself and come to the present week and listen to her cover of Adele's new song "Easy On Me", which she dropped a few days after Adele dropped her original. She has stated around age seven that she goes to a different world. She also says she is never nervous. You should also know that Angelina has always been in charge of her music. Song selection, arrangement. With the musicians she is the leader. You can see this in the rehearsals which you can find on her channels. She knows how she wants it to sound. You should find out all you can about her through her interviews and commentaries. She actually did sing at the age of 18 months old. She expressed to her mother at age 3 that she wanted to sing for Simon on AGT. She stated she wanted to sing at the Noble Peace Prize ceremony. She has accomplished these. She is now on her way to be a superstar which was her goal at age five. She told the little girl to whom she gave her shoes that she wanted to sing to the world. She has sung all over the world. She sang in Japan to a Japanese audience in Japanese. She has sung for heads of state’s. She has written her own songs between 10 & 12 years old. All this by the age of 13. This is incredible. This girl has so much talent. One little thing, you said someone asked why you are doing Grace reviews but not Angelina Jordan. They are two different singers with two different styles. Angelina is an incredible artist. This is probably my favorite so far that I've seen. She has a voice for these gritty songs and Whitney Houston. OTOH, Grace has that "imperfectly perfect" voice as you've said in reviews of her stuff AND she writes almost all of her music. These are just a few little facts that I have compiled over the years to give you a better understanding of who she is.... *Angelina Jordan* - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person. - She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old. - In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes" - When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need. - The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney. - Angelina has covered more than 120 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects and arranges the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else) - Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent. - Angelina has written three of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield" and "Oslo". This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a magical world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.

Strangely one of my favorit songs from Angelina is "I will be there, She was 8 year and sick ( you can hear that ), she did not hit all the notes and her voice cracked a few times. But the way she song it and all the emotion she got out just went right to my heart.

She won Norway Has Talent when she was seven. She should have won AGT this year, but didn't. Her maturity in the craft has gotten better each year, and it's startling how far she will go. Try either Bohemian Rhapsody or Yellow Brick Road.

Thank you for this reaction to Angelina Jordan. She was barely 9 years old in this video. And her latest song is a original song from a norwegian duo called trxd where Angelina Jordan is featuring but this song is totally new music genre for her. The latest performance live will be at the AGT Champions season 2 where she sings three songs the first one is «Boheiman rhapsody» by queen , the second one is «Goodbye yellow brick road « by elton John and the third one is called»Someone you loved» by Lewis capaldi. Welcometo the amazing music world of Angelina Jordan. She has about 125 cover songs and she also have 5 original songs where she wrote three of the originals herself. This was just the tip of the iceberg so there are alot more to react to by Angelina Jordan.

I'm glad you were impressed by more than _just_ her screaming and growling. Because, truth be told, she never went so hard on a vocal ever again after this recording was finished. "It's a Man's World" is at least in the same ballpark (being based largely on Christina Aguilera's version of the James Brown song), but beyond that you'll be hardpressed to find anything more than the occasional "big finish" that even comes close to this over-the-top vocal. (I'm not denigrating the performance - it definitely should go into the time capsule. It's just not what she usually does.) Her "first love" was jazz, and much of her work at 8 and 9 are in that genre. After that, she branched out to (a great many) other genres, but she still tends to "jazz-up" the vocals of most songs she covers. She also usually takes it slower and quieter (than the various originals, I mean, not just compared to "Spell"), with more sparse instrumentation (unless she's singing over a clone of the original instrumental track - and, in the case of "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart", she literally sang over the exact same Mark Ronson instrumental track Miley Cyrus sung over in the original - the girl's already got industry connections). Apart from these general trends, it's hard to pin her down. She can do anything from ultra-faithful covers (like NBLAH and Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing") to completely reworked arrangements (like "California Dreamin'" and "Bohemian Rhapsody", both of which attracted social-media praise from the original bands [what's left of them, anyway]). She sometimes creates a polished "home studio" product, sometimes just a "live at home" single-take affair. And for someone whose parents have continually "pumped the breaks" on her career through the years, there are a surprising number of live-on-TV and live-in-concert performances by her on YT. In addition to all her covers, there are 3 Angelina-inked originals, 2 songs by others given to her to sing, and 1 killer demo that she happened to produce before the songwriter released his "original" - but that isn't supposed to exist, so nevermind… until you're asked 1000 times to react to it.) I won't even bother listing some of the many recording artists she's covered (and big-name singers she can emulate [and often outclass]), because I suspect someone's already done that. I'm also sure you've been pointed to Rusty Shackleford's chronological playlist, so no need to do that. In summary, she is basically the perfect YT artist: a ton of stuff available, a huge amount of variety, all sung perfectly (unless you go all the way back to when she was 6), with a voice that is to die for - er… I mean, a hundred different voices that are to die for. (And I am not mentioning her great beauty, BTW. In case you were wondering.) Happy listening…

(I'm not talking to you, Tom. I'm talking to the channel owner and his regular readers.) Every time I hear Rosie finish that mini-interview by saying, "We here in America love hearing 8-year-old girls who can sing like you…" (only from memory, so might be paraphrasing), I think to myself, "So… only Angelina, then." let me help you understand how she does this. In a interview she was ask what is she thinking when she is singing. hahha OMG her answer " I go into another world when Im singing" oh yes, I totally believe that.

Angelina with Bohemian Rhapsody has some precedents in the same age with LeAnn Rimes with Blue at 13, Tanya Tucker with Delta Dawn also 13 and Patsy Cline with Crazy, 13 again and Brenda Lee also 13 with Dynamite. Of course this is 4 years younger which DOES push that envelope, heck, with that Norway Got Talent, she shreds that envelope.

There is Another young woman singer that is just as good, just different, her name is ( Diana Ankudinova ) she is a true female contralto and can sing like Angelina many different types of music and many times her covers are better than the originals also. Both of these young ladies are not human they are supernatural and I love them both. Everyone check out Diana Ankudinova. In my opinion of all the Young ladies I’ve ever heard Angelina and Diana are the best female singers in the world right now, the kind that come along only once in a lifetime. PS. Diana was orphaned by her parents as a young child, her mother even tried to drowned her in the bathtub. She has had a hard life but she is amazingly beautiful person and has super natural power you not only get the sound of her beautiful voice, but also she is a wonderful actress and performer on stage and truly feels the music. One of the women at the orphanage is her foster mother and that is the woman you see smiling on the sideline in her performances.

She was 9y.o. in this recording. She looks like she just got up from bed, hair disheveled and shoes got lost somewhere... but the moment she starts singing - YOU'RE INSTANTLY BLOWN AWAY! Im 66 y.o. now but I've never heard anyone from anywhere sing so captivatingly hypnotic the way she does! No words could aptly describe her incredible musicality... I've been watching Angelina for a few years now and she's amazing with such an unique voice. Her version of Bohemian Rhapsody and Shield are more recent and excellent.

You saw she was 14 currently and you saw the video was dropped on youtube in 2016 and you figured out she had to be like 12-13 at the time ? That made my day :) Other than that a fun reaction.

Well when listening to Angelina it is the other part of the brain that has command, so what can you ekspect.

Angelina is amazing. Grew up listening to Jazz and it has influenced her singing style. Yes, she was only 9 here and continues to get even better, having only just turned 14! You should check out a lot more of her music - Born to Die, A Million Years Ago, (both when 12), Feeling Good (at 10), Summertime (when only 7, winning Norway's Got Talent), more recently she performed on America's Got Talent: Champions and sang Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. She has written and performed her own music too, eg Shield.

The man she shows at the start did it first, his name is Screamin' Jay Hawkins. She was doing his version of the song.

and i also think theres a wave of young female talent coming up, likes of Billie Eilish,Aurora,Grace Vanderwaal,Angelina Jordan, Courtney Hadwin and more

There are not many artists on this level, her versatility is one of a kind, Jordan Music a new genre........

Yeah, she was just a kid in this video-nine year's old. Now, she is a seasoned vet at 14 year's old. I agree with you. It seems like there is a great number of young, amazingly talented, artists in the world. Angelina, Grace, Diana Ankudiniva (!). Daneliya (from Dimash's country of Kazakhstan, Darcy Lynne, Aurora, (ok, she us now 24, but she has been in the scene for 7 years, already), et al. I like your math. You saw that she is now 14 years old. You saw this video was 4 years ago. So the math in your head determined she was 12 or 13 when she posted this video! The video was posted when she was 10, but she was only 9 when she recorded it. After her audition at age 7 in Norway's Got Talent, one judge said "You are MUSIC!". Another judge, after wiping her own tears away and after Angelina left the stage, said "She sounds like she has been drinking whiskey her entire life!". Needless to say, she went on to win Norway's Got Talent that year.

You're right about the young artist's out there. It has become more normal for young talent to develop right in front of us on the internet ever since Taylor Swift showed everybody it could be done by blowing up MySpace back in the mid 2000s (The advent of the smart phone helped that momentum as well.) Prior to that there was little avenue for these kids to get out there. Even talent shows were few and far between with Idol restricting age. We have a slew of talent shows today but people forget that before the "Got Talent's" and "Idol" shows there was one called "Star Search" back in the mid-80s to 90s (and a short return in early 2000s) that featured child stars like Justin Timberlake (Country singer back then LOL), Brittney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and even a "Hip-Hop Rappin" group (Old Ed did his best, lol) called Girl's Tyme that included a very young Beyoncé. Not to mention a slew of other stars in multiple categories still ruling the entertainment world today. The glut of future stars that came out of that show is incredible and the loser list alone shows just how few outlets there were for emerging talent back then.

agree with others, she was only 9 in this and to get a better understanding of just how rich her vocals are, you need to go back to when she was 7. On Norways got talent which she won, she sang a jazz classic summertime.... I highly recommend it before moving through the years
