Angelina, IMO, is the most soulful emotional singer of my 62 years and the only one who has made me cry. If you love music, you just hit gold man! Name a genre of music (other then hard rock, opera or rap) and you'll find Angelina has mastered it! She's recorded everything from this 1954 Jay Hawkings classic and great jazz and soul standards to Adele and Amy Winehouse songs... She has been a pro since the age of seven (she had just turned nine on this one...) Prepare to be amazed...

She is to you and still too fragile, (as a kid) Even though I hope her the best in the future. But I certainly don´t want her to end up in the 27 Club like Amy Winehouse and Jimi Hendrix and all other talented musicians.

I love your reaction! She's 9 and she won Norway's Got Talent at age 7. She was holding a prayer candle with picture of original artist "Screaming Jay Hawlkens" she made correction on her sheet music version and the conductor is reading them. She is a child prodigy and she has the ability to sing in a low key. It is on purpose so she can sing an adult song and make it believable.

Angelina is one of the most addictive singers I have ever listened to, & one of the very few, that can pull you right into the song, making you feel, every word, every note, & every emotion. ❤️💙 I always have this feeling that Angelina is not only channeling some of these late great singers, but that they also pass through her, when she is singing their song ❤️💙 A rare beauty, in every sense of the word ❤️💙 Whether you are a believer in reincarnation or not, I find it very intriguing that Lou Rawls, the American Jazz & blues singer legend, died, the same day Angelina is born 😊 Loved your reaction!!!

Rusty issues a wonderful observation that the most frequent first-comment by reactor fans is "she's 9 years old" and YES. My other fun observation: so many reactors 'rock out' to the beat of the song's opening, and then get gobsmacked and sit in a stone-still shock thru the first verse. G&T, that's one of the great reactions that you provide to us. I wonder if you'll watch one of her modern videos next, or if you'll excavate her older ones? The reaction you just had to this is a very good example of what is called ‘cognitive dissonance’. It’s where your brain literally can not reconcile two things that’s shouldn’t go together and it leaves you speechless. It’s this case, it’s the sound we are hearing coming out of her mouth and the fact that we are seeing a 9 year old sing it. Our minds just can’t process this because we know it shouldn’t be possible.

You have a new subscriber but BEWARE! This is a long comment. I hope you have the patience to read to the end. Thank you for discovering and reacting my favourite singer. She was only 9 years old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to the person who wrote the original, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, an American singer/songwriter. He wrote and performed it in 1956 and Angelina is the based her performance on the original, although she did make some subtle alterations to both lyrics and melody. As you continue your journey of discovering Angelina, you will come to realise that she does her own arrangements of most of the cover songs she sings. They may not be immediately discernible on first listening to them, but they are there. There may be a subtle change in tempo or tone, or more inflexion in some words, or a phrase may differ in pitch from the original. The amount of control that Angelina has over her voice cannot be measured. She never hurries a song. She sings in such a way that the emotions in the lyrics are felt by the listener. In this video did you notice:Angelina finishing some notes and handing them to the pianist, who smiled as he read them? They were her wishes (instructions) to the band how she wished therm to play the music. Then a brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, a well known and respected Iranian artist, who is also Angelina's maternal grandmother and the person who encouraged Angelina in her love of music, especially jazz. And then there is a shot of Angelina holding a candle upon which was an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins. Lastly, did you notice how the "performing" Angelina, singing at a level of maturity far beyond her years, suddenly became a 9-year-old child almost instantaneously once she finished singing. From the time I first heard Angelina, way back at her first audition on Norway's Got Talent, she has amazed me. My introduction to Angelina was on her first appearance at Norway's Got Talent and I didn't expect much from a 7-year-old. Just a cute little girl, all nervous, rushing the song in parts, hesitating and then stumbling over or forgetting her words and generally acting her age and doing her best to get through a childish song like "Twinkle, twinkle little star". What did I see? Well, it was a seven-year-old child, with wild hair and gaps in her mouth, where there once were baby teeth. And that was when the normal perception ended and things turned upside down. She confidently answered the questions put to her by a Judge. Declared she was going to sing a song by the legendary Billie Holiday. Gestured off-stage for the technician to start the music and then started singing. The body of the 7-year-old was still there but the voice wasn't. Or was it? I was surprised then and that surprise is still with me, some six years later. I have followed her career since I saw that first video on KZread and in the six years she has been singing publicly she has mastered many musical genres, including Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz, Pop, R&B and Soul, EDM and Rock and covered songs first performed by many famous singers, like Adele, Whitney Houston, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Lana del Ray, Avicii, Bill Withers, Gloria Gaynor, Andy Williams, Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and many others. What is more extraordinary is that she takes ownership of every song she sings while still paying respect to the original. You will notice that she never goes into unnecessary theatrics. Never sings those high or low notes unless they are absolutely necessary. Never projects herself in any performance which says "look how good I am". She just sings the song as she feels it is meant to be sung. And I'll add an even more extraordinary item for you to consider, to show how unique she is. She has the innate ability not only to sing a song as emotionally as the song deserves but to be able to communicate those same emotions to the listener. As I have noted above, I have been following her career a long time and have listened to every interview she has given and every documentary about her and every performance she has ever given. What stands out for me is how a very shy and humble girl in her normal life, can be transformed into the perfect vehicle for the song she has chosen to sing, once she starts to sing. Although the gift of singing and all her performances appear to be effortless, Angelina works very hard to ensure that the one she is going to record reflects what she sees as the correct way to meld both lyrics and melody. I have been rather lax in responding to reactors recently, as we are on the point of moving house and temporarily living with friends until our settlement date for the new home.
