Angelina Jordan Astar performed Gloomy Sunday as her first public audition on "Norway's Got Talent", Friday, March 7h, 2014.
The song was composed by Hungarian pianist and composer Rezső Seress and published in 1933. Original title: Szomorú Vasárnap (Sad Sunday).
Angelina's version is based on the Billie Holiday version from 1941.
The fact that Billie Holiday did not write this song, may be why Angelina says "Gloomy Sunday f r o m Billie Holiday" in stead of "b y".
(Norwegian: "Gloomy Sunday f r a Billie Holiday", in stead of "a v".
The judges are:
Lisa Tønne, born 1977. Stand-up artist and actress, tv host and actress.
Omer Michael Jamal Bhatti, born 1984. Rapper and dancer. Stage name: O-Bee He is also known for
his friendship to Michael Jackson.
Bjarte Hjelmeland, born 1970. Actor, stand-up artist and theatre director.
After the Norway's Got Talent contest was over, he portrayed Angelina in one of his stand-up shows.
Angelina saw it, and thought it was funny.

Commenter speaking:
"Angelina and her family have lived several years abroad, and she has
a special story she wants to tell us (...) When she is on stage she never wears shoes,
and the reason for this is an experience she had as a six-year-old,
when she and her family lived in the middle east.
There she met a girl who worked as a street vendor.
Angelina speaking:
"...she said, how nice shoes you have. I asked, do you want them?
I gave them to her, and she said, thank you. And then I said, what is your dream?
She said, I want to be a doctor, but I can't. I said, you must never give up.
Then she said, I will pray for you, and you must remember me. That's why I am barefooted."

Someone made a dumb remark on a reaction video recently that 14 year old Angelina has "Rabbit Teeth" I personally think her adult teeth are great, it gives her character, and I love them along with her nose, lips, and beautiful long black hair.. Her inner beauty is what really counts. She is so humble for a 14 year old worldwide megastar

I've been watching her since her first appearance on Norway's Got Talent - Gloomy Sunday - I'm SO happy she got the AGT the Champions Golden Buzzer though - because I think it'll help her get well known in the United States too - and I want to see her in concert here! I think she will win AGT The Champions this year!! Go A.J.!!

I don't even cry listening the orignial and billie's version but I literally cried listening this. It seems like she carried something in her soul.

If you belive in reincarnation, like i do or the judge at 4:10 does, then it is a different story. To me she just looks like she's trying to remember in that moment answering that question. But she had lived through it in many past lives and that's why she's able to transport those deep emotions through singing.

I watched this after watching her performance in AGT. This song os banned in a certain country, for the author commited suicide after writing the song. There were also listeners who happened to commit suicide after listening to it. Maybe just coincidence or they just knew the history of the song and chose to listen to it after killing themselves. Anyways, a very good performance!
Angelina Jordan was born a musical empath of supernal soulfulness; an absolute phenom for the ages.
What an incredible performance for a singer of any age. But to do that at age 7 is crazy! She is a prodigy, she was indeed born to sing. I saw her 2 songs on AGT. She has performed for almost a decade even though she's still quite young. She turns 16 in January 2022. Through it all she seems to have remained very humble.
I love the peace she transmits, she is unique, she does not sing, she is the soul of each interpretation

I want to see her become world famous on a level much bigger than Taylor Swift. I want her to have sold out concerts worldwide. I want her to be admired, and adored where everywhere she goes she will draw crowds that line the roads just to get a glimpse of her as she passes by in her limo. She deserves this more than any other 14 year old singer on the planet.

I grew up listening to Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and even Screamin' Jay Hawkins. The first time I watched this video in 2020, I had to open my eyes because I actually expected to see Billie Holiday standing somewhere on that stage. Angelina has said that, if it wasn't for Billie Holiday, there wouldn't be an Angelina Jordan. SHE chose this song for her audition in honor of "Lady Day", and she intentionally omitted the entire 2nd verse which actually dives even DEEPER into the suicide message.

Well that and they always sing condensed versions of the songs they choose to audition with. There wouldn't be enough time for everybody if they sang these songs in their entirety. On AGT she sang Bohemian Rhapsody and she was only up there for a little over 2 minutes. That is a 6 minute song. I'm sorry if I'm coming off wrong. I'm often told that I do that a lot. Some kind of disorder I guess.

She seems to be super confident here. She even talks to judges like she would be their boss almost, she is not nervous at all... That's the most astonishing thing about her for me. Not the amazing singing performance which is 10/10 of course. She acts almost like a very professional adult musician, not a 7 year child. She is somehow very special, I think.

I'm a Kiwi but lived in Norway as a kid I liked the subtitles to see if I could understand any of it and also liked listening to the Norwegian I don't often get to hear it these days.

I have always liked jazz and grew up hearing it but now LoVE it .Can't get enough of it from Angelina . She is like a conduit to the past where jazz legends did their thing.
Wow, this is the first time I heard Angelina sing as a 7 yr old girl. And the judge was right, you don't learn this, you are born with it. She has an amazing gift from God. I pray she uses it well. As many times as I've watched this performance, it still astonishes me that any 7 yr old can sing like that. She's like the human version of a mockingbird! I ljke the sound of spoken Norwegian. To my ears it sounds like a mixture of French & German or Russian.

Great musical discernment and performer even as a 6 year old. This really reflects in her kinder class videos when she's was just shaking her head and kept not singing a word while her other classmates sung their lungs out.
It always amazes me how some people can be so down hearted and entangled in their own depressions and jealousies enough to give a thumbs down. So sad that they see in this beautiful little girl all that they want to be and they know they never will be. For whatever reasons some people never search to find their own gift, so they present their own hatred to others who have found their calling. I have heard many versions of this song. I honestly did not like her rendition of it. No envy. Not downhearted. Just prefer other people's versions to hers. Now if she had sang something else - maybe a little more appropriate for her age and life experience then sure - I probably would have said "Cool" and gave it a thumbs up. For example: Her version of Bohemian Rhapsody was much better.
