Thanks for this reaction to Angelina's video. This song was performed by the Barefoot Angel in a mourning tone for passing away of the legend Aretha Franklin "The Queen of Soul."

When she does a tribute sometimes she ends it abruptly. and sometimes she fades to black...when you get to her tribute to Freddie Mercury "The Show Must Go On" wait for the ending !!! She really hits a note...

Angelina did this to honor Aretha and I believe she dropped this video on the day of Aretha’s memorial.

Sung as a memorial to the recent passing of Aretha. Not a time to be belting, but I imagine this being sung graveside among friends and family of Aretha. A gentle reminder of her greatness.

Very astute observation markkleckner. When “Million Miles” first came out in 2020, many complained about how abruptly the song ended (the live studio version). At the time I thought it was done purposely. I’ve noticed since then that most of Angelina’s performances don’t end with the song just fading out. She is very deliberate in her choices.

Angelina kept this rendition soft, subdued, and reverential out of R-E-S-P-E-C-T for the Queen of Soul.

All her tributes for beloved people that have passed are expressing respect and sadness. She dresses in black, skips the smiles and waving, and ends abruptly with fading to black. When you will listen to it again expecting a heartfelt tribute, you will appreciate her genius and greatness even more 👣🧡🧡🙌❣️

This was a tribute to Aretha, but the style is more similar to that of the song's composer, Carole King, who had a quieter, poppier version than Aretha. King also utilized more vocal fry than Angelina, which is unusual, since AJ is noted for her fry. I agree with other posters that her tributes are great. (That WAS her ending sendoff...) Her Avicil post choked me up, and I didn't even know who Avicil was at the time.

To appreciate the genius of this it has to be understood that it is a very respectful tribute to Aretha Franklin: everything about it is a tribute including the fade to black.

Yeah, I think she was “holding it down” a little because Aretha had just passed a few days before and this was sort of meant maybe as a tribute to her? We all know that she could put a lot more into it if she really wanted to? Maybe some day?

She definitely did and it was absolutely meant as a tribute... if you are familiar with her tribute songs you can see the connections (wearing black; often fading to black at the end....)

She could easily have belted this song out but, in a tribute to Aretha, that would have been very poor taste. This heartfelt homage is a testament to Angelinas extreme musical intelligence.

All the other A-list artists who did a tribute to Aretha, emulated her well known powerful, bombastic style, whereas Angelina's genius is shown in how she turns the song into a soft, heartfelt rendition, proving that 'less can be more' at times.

At 12, Angelina made quite a few videos, either accompanied with an acoustic (Ivan Mendez) or with a back-up track. Here are some of the titles she did: California dreaming (TheMamas & the Papas), Stay (Rihana), A million years ago (Adele), Born to die (Lana Del Rey), It's a man's world (James Brown LIVE), Always on my mind (Elvis). That was the year when Angelina moved from Norway to L.A.
