Words cannot express how proud I am to see MIYAVI charged with delivering this role and handling the press surrounding it. Not only is he the gentlest soul I can think of, but he's been addressing sensitive topics with honesty and optimism through his music for years, and cultivating an international community based on those principles. I can't think of a better person to be sitting up there beside Angelina and Jack and perpetuating this very human story.. Way to go, MYV - show 'em what forgiveness really means :)

The funny thing is that Miyavi expresses himself more eloquently than his British co-star. I'm glad the interviewer asked Miyavi some questions the reposters focused a bit too much on Angelina instead of the actors' experiences.

You shouldn't be embarrassed. My first language is Russian, and I've been speaking English for 25 years and it's still not perfect. My accent, although miniscule, is till noticeable, and I tend to mispronounce some words too. Not to mention sometimes my sentences are not exactly correct.

In a way, all that Jolie as been thru, her beginnings were rough , an absentee father, raised by her mother, whom she adored as well as her older brother James , living in an apartment on the outskirts of Beverly Hills, money was tight, she “pushed her way to stardom” taking acting classes at the ripe old age of 11 , you could say, or rather I would say Jolie is “my” Louie Zamperini. Unbroken was done in such a classy way (I’m describing a war story here of a brave , forgiving man) a movie that long after its ended you leave the theater more powerful , that nagging test coming up in psych 101, whatever difficulty your going thru , be it a divorce, a difficult job you may have, it enpowers you to get thru whatever situation your facing , brilliant movie , directed beautifully, terrific message for the viewer, thank you ms Jolie.

Miyavi is a Korean who willing to disgrace Japan. He never deserve SAMURAI. He also never deserve his name "Miyavi". "Miyavi" means graceful in Japanese.

"Disgrace Japan"? You mean tell a true story? Enough saving face and let it go. Other nations have all admitted the wrongs they have done over the years. Japan is a beautiful country. The war is over and we can learn from it. It ignoring the fact that it happened is not the answer. He is brave for going against the status quo and defying nationalists like you. Please realize that portraying real events is not meant to put down Japan. 😥

Not Your Ghoulfriend I have a different point of view with you. Anyway, at least, there were good guys in Japan. Do you say that Japan was wrong at all and they should not have any objections? Should the Japanese remain silent in groundless defamatory words? Do you know this movie is made by China money? And do you know what it means?

  • @anastasia-fr1gn

Griffon868 Japanese government was wrong, not the Japanese people. There are no defamatory words. No where in the movie did they paint Japanese people as evil or bad. It is fact that Japan sided with Germany and Italy in WW2. This movie is made by Universal an American company. www.latimes.com/entertainment/movies/la-et-ct-unbroken-japan-china-20141130-story.html#page=1

Not Your Ghoulfriend I know the other story of POW experience in Japan. A UK POW experienced hard time at the Omori POW camp same as Angelina's story. He wrote the book about his experience of POW camp. He also experienced some violence, but of course, he never see the POWs were eaten by Japanese. He said that there were good guards who protecting POWs from bad guards and he thanked for them. Actually, he have a special personal history compared with other POWs. He visited Japan before the war starts and got married with Japanese woman. When the war starts, he fought against Japan at the HongKong, but captured and experienced POW camp. He was just treated as same as other POWs. But he said he love Japan. At the end of war, he met again her wife and went back UK, but returned Japan soon after, and they live in Japan, so this book is published in Japanese. I introduce some sentence from his book's afterword. "There were many beautiful mind Japanese and without them, we might be not able to survive POW camp. But Today, those beautiful story never talked. That is because those are hidden behind some barbaric act. Main article of this book is about those beautiful story. It is a story of the strong friendship bound together at nightmare time never to hope to visit again." I think this story is far better and worthful than Angelina's one. There are truth, romance, love, friendship. It's easy to get Academy Award. And you girls prefer it, don't you?
