Angela Davis: "We were attempting to create a way to understand, why it was that such huge numbers of people were in prison in the U.S., the racial disparities of the prison population, and at the same time the decline of education, of healthcare, and so forth. I think that what was so important about that term [Prison Industrial Complex] was that it moved us away from simply thinking about punishment, or jails and prisons, in isolation from everything else."
Prisons, must be simply understood, as one of the instruments of repression of the bourgeois-state.
