I’m not sure you can fully appreciate this Ally Gold, but you know that feeling you get from having Ange in charge? That feeling that everything needs looking at calmly and with perspective? And that it’s never as bad as you first think? That’s EXACTLY what you have been offering to thousands and thousands of Spurs fans for years. Through some truly miserable times you have been a rock…our stability and sense of perspective. Thank you so much for all you do for us 🍻 COYS

Have to say so many fellow spurs fans are far too negative, as opposed to the most positive manager on the planet ✌I prefer to look over the coming years not months for Ange, to become a serious football club we need a quality SQUAD that can be in the fight for trophies, that takes time.

Not going to lie I am unashamedly an Ange fan but having said that no matter what the future holds I am now also a Spurs fan. I didn’t really support a PL team and have been a long time fan of the All Blacks , Penrith Panthers , Sydney Swans and OKC Thunder but learning about Spurs and it’s recent history makes them an obvious choice for me as a football team. Never a dull moment and a team that keeps you engaged emotionally what’s not to love. Thanks for your videos they have been not only informative and educational but have helped me understand more about Spurs recent history. Fingers crossed for no more drama or injuries against Bournemouth and three points for the first game of 2024 for us here in Australia.

Interesting factoid: 'Decimated' means 1-in-10. It comes from ancient Roman legions when they experienced a defeat and were punished by their superiors. The soliders were ordered to kill the tenth comrade in every cohort. It wasn't a common practice but was mentioned in history. While the modern meaning means heavily depleted, I chucked thinking Spurs would have to have a 100-man squad to be actually decimated.

I know it's easy to make decisions when you don't have the pressure of being the manager, but I would start Alfie Dorrington alongside Ben Davies against Bournemouth. Having watched the U-21s extensively this season, Alfie has proved to be the most natural centre back after Romero and VDV at taking the ball from the keeper, playing it into the number 6 or being involved in triangles to beat the opposition press. He is calm, has a physical presence and has demonstrated good powers of recovery. As a Cockfosters lad he will certainly have the crowd's backing as "one of our own". Starting him allows a chance to settle into the game rather than having to adjust to the pace of the match later on, and keeps open the opportunity to make a change later on if required. There would be more pressure on him if his debut came against Burnley, given the importance of the FA Cup in the pursuit of a trophy. I feel it's a shot to nothing because he's a natural central defender, unlike Emerson Royal who has been given some thankless tasks this season. Seems like an archetypal "to dare is to do" moment for me. Thoughts?

One element of the discipline is the biased and inconsistent refereeing. If we are to compete we need that level of intensity but if the opponents dont get booked and we do we have a problem. Its not a coincidence we have so many injuries. The opponents dont get booked and just continue in the same way because the referee dont set a precedent early in the match. Its ridiculous at times.

Another great vlog Alasdair. I know we have injuries and suspensions but Brighton also had 10 out and over the game played 4 teenagers, plus Brighton have been playing Europa football. Spurs have to scout, recruit better with Mr Levy and the board need to prepare to spend, not balk say 17 million for Piarrera who ended up at Leicester with Spurs paying more for Aurier, not paying 12 million for Maddison when David Pleat advised Spurs to when he was at Coventry years ago. There are many more examples like this over the years. Oh well COYS.

Ben Davies for Captain! Is it really even a tough choice with all the others out, I think it'd be even a lil offensive if he chose someone else. He already doesn't get nearly the respect he deserves. Also, Dunk was playing dirty, should have been sent off, coulda been through 2 yellows or a red honestly And, really, Ange just has to play Ashley Phillips or Dorrington from the start next to Davies in the upcoming match. Among other things, Royal had 0 aerial duels won, versus Ben's 6, while the Welshman is shorter. Please Ange!!

Ali, in your talking points about the Brighton game there are some good quotes from Ange about injuries and following the process. If anyone else is interested I can heartily recommend the 30 October episode of Tifo Football podcast titled "Is too much football causing injuries?". It is a fascinating interview with Callum Walsh, a physical performance manager taking a deep dive into the physical aspects of player management. A lot of what Ange said about the injuries and sticking to the process chimes with what they talk about in the podcast. Really good stuff - great insight that has helped my understanding of the situation. Callum also says "PosteTROGlou" at one point, which made me laugh. I can provide a link if you can't find it.

The few years I was a fan before Hugo got here were rough, rough years at the goalkeeping spot. Can we have a laugh now that Brad Friedel was getting consistent starts alongside bale and modric? HL1 legitimized us in so many ways and he stayed loyal. A new era Tottenham legend in the way maybe only 3-4 other players are imo.

Fantastic year, enjoying the rebuild & looking forward to watching Spurs again. Hojbjerg seems to slow the fluidity of the team. When he starts the team starts slowly. When he comes on as a sub it helps control the game, but when he starts we don’t create. Good player but imo does not fit Ange’s style. Other than that no complaints, it’s a learning process, we have a load of key injuries but I am loving the football. I think it’s a success so far and can’t wait to see a full team. I am salivating over our possible midfield, our defence with an addition or 2 will be strong. There is a lot of lazy punditry & analysis around. Spurs & Ange are fine, keep doing what you are doing. Excellent content Ali, brilliant insights, I really appreciate your thoughts. Keep up the good work

The main reason we lost at Brighton was that too few players moved into space to receive the ball. Most were static and waited for the ball to reach them resulting in it being intercepted, leaving us flat footed and chasing. Also the passing accuracy was pretty bad. We just weren't playing for/helping each other out. It was a real shame.

Thanks as always for the video. Hope you feel better soon Ally. As I currently sit watching this in bed with the lurgy I sympathise. We simply have to persevere with Ange’s way otherwise we should never ask for a manager again with a plan and philosophy. He isn’t surprised by anything that’s happening because he’s been here so many times and knows what he’s doing. We only have two PL games in January so if we can get back most of the team for a tough Feb I think we have every reason to be optimistic about what lies ahead.

Cheers Alasdair, brilliant as always!... I would love to see Ange give one of the youngsters more game time, we could see the star of a future legend!

Hope you and the family have a happy new year! Thank you for taking time out of your day to make these videos. What role would you rather see Sonny in? I’m seeing so much back and forth between the fans saying he isn’t good on the left and some who say he isn’t a striker? Where do you think his future lies

Happy Christmas Alasdair and may I wish you a wonderful 2024 in advance. I have to agree with you about our retinue of extremely talented youngsters. When you see other teams playing 18 & 19yr olds, with considerable success, you wonder why we don't especially when the team/squad is so depleted and when we're having to force square pegs into round holes. That would be my one criticism of AP. Perhaps he's waiting for the Burnley FA Cup game - but I think that's too late.

Agree 100% Alasdair that this is just that testing period before we get to where Ange wants the team to be. 5th is no small feat so far. Great gift the On Air sign, kind of indifferent on having it there...I mean it has red in it 🤔😂

I felt Son was poor yesterday and I cannot see why we play Gil as I feel that he is too lightweight for the prem. He is skilful but gets knocked off the ball far too easily. I was looking forward to see Donley coming on before Deki decided he would stay on. I thought Deki was poor and in the second half for about 20 mins I thought he must have been taken off as he was anonymous. Hopefully we will be back to winning ways in our next game. COYS

Hi Alistair hope you and your family had a great Christmas, you mentioned the tackle by Dunk and I agree with you could have been a red card and as you if had been Romero it would have been a red, but it might be just because I'm Spurs fan but it seems to me Refs seem to look to book or send our players off easier than the likes of Dunk and Cash and others and a Happy New year to you and your family too ❤

Ange must think the youth are not quite ready, the one thing you don’t want to do is put them under too much pressure. I am sure in the coming weeks he might have no choice. A very Happy New Year to you and all your family and looking forward to Ange having a full squad to pick from. PS The decorations came down quick (tinsel).
