In my view, it is not the consciusness of death or of our finitude that makes us suffer, but our negative thoghts about it. It is not any situation that makes us suffer, but our pattern and manner of thinking that primarily makes us suffer

@bijanjan100 It's fascinating how our thoughts and perceptions can significantly influence our emotional responses. Indeed, Schopenhauer emphasizes the role of our subjective interpretations and mental attitudes in shaping our experience of suffering.

The buddha said if you can get rid of desire then you will get rid of suffering. But, the whole gimmick is that you now desire to not desire. It's a mental feedback loop of inescapability. The fools are the ones who judge the other, and think they are getting one up on others or life by desiring to not desire or visa versa. The ones who learn are the ones who truly let go and accept life as it is. The praktika buddha is the stone buddha who goes into the woods, meditates until he discovers nirvana and stays there forever. The bhodisattva buddha goes into the woods, meditates, and realizes that the nirvana world is the exact same as the regular world and returns to society to deliver the good news. To say you must get rid of your ego creates a new ego that is based on getting rid of an ego and this whole pretend idea that you're somehow more spiritually better than other people because you're more enlightened and less attached to your ego, but that IS another form of ego. In the end, you learn that this is the same as desiring to not desire, you let go and realize the ego doesn't exist. The egoless world is the same as the egoic world.

I’ve watched a few of these profiles now and I don’t really see myself in any of the models the various philosophers put forward. I have pretty much lost interest in philosophy now. I think this may be a good thing for me.
