Andy's 1999 Harley Sportster Chopper with Haifley Hardtail Kit

Ойын-сауық

Today, I walk us through how I became the big bad boy chopper daddy that I am today. We talk about the origins of my bike and its transformation from an 883 Hugger to a 1200 sportster chopper by using the Haifley Bros Hardtail kit.
If you're looking to get into chopping, this will put you on the right path.
The Haifley kit is now offered by Throttle Addiction.

    The six over forks are just right. I've never liked crazy-long forks. I've never cared for raked frame necks. Ed "Big Daddy" Roth once told me, "If your forks are over six-inches overstock, take off those forks then put 'em in a corner, install shorter forks, and then go out and have fun with the bike." Great bike, Andy. I'd add a decent front binder. I like that frisco-mounted "axed" H-D type gas tank. Paughco made similar tanks. Vista Chopper Products made those gas tanks back in the early 1970s. Stay frosty, Andy. Ride safe -- Walt Greybeard

    Great video. It's a great time to be alive and people need the reminder you give. Interesting use of the word Narcissism. In the strictest sense, as from the greek myth of Narcissus who falls in love with his own image and never another, you are absolutely correct. An old story to warn of the dangers of thinking of yourself higher than others. I guess the trick is to love yourself, in spite of your flaws, so you can love others in spite of theirs. God Bless.

    That bike looks great! Sportsters are so underrated. The best part of building a bike, is to build it the way you want, then too proudly ride it. Of course the stories that go along with it. Few questions the hard tail ” no shocks” verses the with shocks? How is your back? Cornering the same? Bottom line I want to buy the LTC roller from Paughco: I don't want to find out a hard tail is far from what I thought it is after I build it. Please share any and all thoughts and experiences too. Maybe do a show? t

    There’s really nothing like jamming down the road on something you built. Been all over the country on this thing. I had never even sit on a hardtail bike before cutting my frame in half and hardtailing this bike. I was riding on 10” shocks on a sportster and I’m 300lbs. So I really didn’t have great suspension anyway. Honestly I love riding rigid. I will say that I’ve rode 600 miles in one day on my rigid and I’ve rode 1000 miles in one day on a softail. I felt like I was beat all to hell after the 600 mile day on the rigid. I get on on the bragging rights of jamming a lot of miles on a rigid sportster though. So a little bit of body ache is worth it to me. Haha. All in all I think the bike is real comfy though.

    chop it up. I will say, anything after 2004 when they started rubber mounting the engines, makes it harder to chop but if you have some know how and some tools, anything is possible. they make direct weld on hardtail sections for sportsters pre-03.

  • @PARTYONFOREVER

    @PARTYONFOREVER

    3 жыл бұрын

    Nah Tony, there are no dumb questions. The sportster 883 & 1200 are the exact same motorcycle. Only difference is in the internals of the motor. You could put an 883 in a 1200 frame and a 1200 in an 883 frame. Plug and play. Any of the sportster hardtail kits will work on either size motor. Just pay attention to your year model and that it fits in the year range that the hardtail was designed for.
