I am a humongous Chelsea fan, but this comment is SPOT ON. Now I know how it feels for a team to sit back and get all 3 points. Nonetheless, we can both agree that Chelsea had some flair, especially against smaller sides. It's a depressing brand of football. I will admit that.

@@WhatInTheDeepestShadeOfFeck I agree, but I honestly think that possession should count in football now. Maybe a certain point for every 10% possession gained during the match. A total of these points should count towards a goal. I believe that would make football a lot more exciting.

@@charlesegbunike4596 much as I love seeing a team play good football, I think the only stat that should matter is goals. If every team played the same way, the game just wouldn't be as interesting. Man City dominate possession stats against everyone, but that doesn't mean they deserve a point if they lose to a team they're expected to beat.

1 Billion spent not one world class player signed. Enzo for 106 mil and caicedo for 115 is quite unbelievable really nowhere near good enough for teams that need to win things.

You didn't seriously watch Chelsea under Mourinho. Because if you did, you'd know that they were as capable of brilliant attacking football as ultra defensive football. It simply depended on the opponents. Chelsea would have blown away a team like Brentford under peak Mourinho in the first half and THEN sit deep in the second half and play on the counter.

@@RL- the game I was talking about, they weren’t protecting the lead. They just parked the bus against United from the off. I think Hazard got a goal on the counter in the 70th. It was just dross to watch and Chelsea at the time were already 10 points ahead of United at the top of the table. I could have understood that tactic away at old trafford but at home? At least the games I’ve seen now Chelsea make chances but have a hard time putting it away.

There was only a single Chelsea 1-0 Utd with both Mourinho and Hazard at the club, a few months before the former was sacked, and Hazard scored in the 38th minute. I also distinctly remember Kurt Zouma playing out of position in midfield so there were probably injury problems and suspensions that suited playing on the counter while United struggled to do anything with the post-Fergie flop gang of Di María, Fellaini, Young and Falcao etc. Makes sense to me. Chelsea don't make real chances now. They tally up tons of tiny xG chances with their superior shot count because they have so much of the ball in the final third. They don't play into space or with any directness ever since Tuchel knocked that out of them. They pass it around in front of a wall of defenders, get countered clinically and go behind, then spam crosses without an aerial presence up front. That's why players like Sterling or Lukaku can be relatively clinical based on their conversion rate and still look awful to the average muppet fan - they don't get enough chances to compensate for misses that every single striker has to deal with. Erling Håland has the most big chances misses in the Prem but he's still arguably the most clinical striker in decades and he scores for fun because good teams like City create proper quality attacks rather than playing defensive keepball.

The most shocking thing for Chelsea fans is that they have been used to money buying success, but now it's buying failure. Man U and Chelsea are exactly the same over the last 3-4 transfer windows, quantity over quality with the poorest of recruitment . The real bad news is that take more than 3-4 windows to repair the damage and the new FFP rules will anyway catch them out.
