What I would say is, when your expectations are high, disappointment is greater. So while I agree ‘10 years’ sounds pathetic, it’s been brutal given previous success, given the investment, given the constant magnifying glass on everything that goes wrong, given the relentless glee with which fans from all teams express their happiness at the constant downfall, given our two biggest rivals meteoric success. When a team has always been unsuccessful, a lack of success doesn’t hit as hard, I assume…

I wouldn’t stop supporting United if Southgate took over, that’s just a stupid thing to say, but I’d for sure be spending a lot less money on them while he’s there. Unless the first few games United play decent football under him, which I doubt he would do, I wouldn’t go to watch them again. It’s bad enough now, but the odd game like the Liverpool one pulls you back in. I gave my season ticket away for the second half of van Gaal’s last season as we were so unbelievably boring. I actually fell asleep at Old Trafford during a two nil win because it was so dull. Even my son was bored shitless and he was about ten years old, and usually at that age, just being at the game is a massive excitement on its own. We spent a good fifteen minutes watching the game on the TVs at the concessions stand because we knew it would be empty while the game was in-play. (These two shouldn’t be on the radio - they’re garbage presenters. Goldstein not knowing Bruce scored 19 goals in one season at United is pathetic)
