Even though Felix lost, it was so good to see him play well. That was a good showing on his part 💯

May be dubai incident was the best thing to happen to rublev..it has improved his mentality as is evident in this tournament....
I saw the third set live and this video showed none of the drama. Felix was struggling with cramps in both legs and barely hanging on to his service, several times digging himself out of holes with great serving. Rublev was absolutely dominant on his serve. It was great drama!

You have to hand it to Andrey. He deserved it more than anyone else. He beat everyone, including Carlitos, and on the grand scheme of things, save for his poor form in the last few tournaments, he is a top 6 player who is capable of beating anyone - which he has proved here
@got2bjosh
Ай бұрын
Ruby already has beaten all of the top 10 players of the past 5-10 years including each of the Big 3. Carlitear was the 25th Top 10 player Ruby's beaten. It's not out of the ordinary. Ruby's consistency in beating the best is why he's been in the Top 10 for years & reached the QF at every Slam.

Rublev in top shape is a threat to anyone on any tournament, but he lacked a bit of fitness to go deep in slams. Now with his more composed way of playing + a good mental, I think he can do big. He has as much talent as the very elite

@danbotez1307 Yes, I should have mentioned that he was unwell during the tournament. But, apparently, he was much better in the final. However, he still had to come from behind to beat an in-form Aliassime. I hope he can maintain his composure in subsequent tournaments because that's when he's most consistent
I am so glad for Rublev. He struggled to find his form after the disqualification in Dubai, but now he is again in top form and won the title absolutely deserved!
Great comeback also for Felix. Awesome match.
Rublev’s play was superb this week! Luv u Andre!! You really deserved this title!! 🥰

Unbelievable comeback from Andrey while being sick and having fever. What great battle and well deserved winner 🏆 proud of your mental strength throughout the week my champ.
Rublev really improved the last few years! He was at Felix's position so many times before...
Really like FAA’s use of angles. Hopefully he can use this result to get some confidence going forwards. He still should be a real threat at Wimbledon to make QF or SF, but we’ve seen him turn in some stinkers there before as well.

Noticed the same thing. He takes pace off his forehand and combined with his heavy topspin he really does get incredible angles.
What a fighter Rublev is!! Really the most most worthy winner, played great the whole tournament, beating Carlitos etc etc all while being sick . Amazing stuff💪🏼
The most hilarious thing when watching this broadcast was the Tennis Channel announcers literally complaining that Rublev didn't have a meltdown in the first set. "He usually goes ballistic, something must be wrong!" Here's hoping the positive reinforcement of the "kinder, gentler" Rublev winning a big tournament sticks, as his game is a joy to watch.

Honestly glad Rublev won it because FAA has the biggest asterisk next to his final placement here. Rublev actually beat elite guys back to back and massively deserves this second big title.
@sandman1347
Ай бұрын
FAA beat Ruud and faced who they put in front of him. There is no asterisk whatsoever and it's not his fault that others dropped out of the tournament. This was also an extremely competitive match so I think his spot in the final was more than justified.

@@sandman1347He beat Ruud, but the other guys he beat were Mannarino (disastrously bad on clay) and Nishioka (pretty underpowered, generally not a great player and worse on clay). Ruud win was good, but Ruud was due for a loss and this is his weakest clay tournament. That aside, Mensik retired against FAA, Sinner didn’t even play, Lehecka retired against FAA, and Medvedev retired against Lehecka before FAA. Obviously this is not his fault at all, but it would’ve been one of the least deserving M1000 wins I’ve ever seen. Rublev deserved this one more. Hope this gives FAA a boost of confidence to get back to his best level though regardless.
