It is no coincidence that HBO & CNN are owned by the same company yet the writers never mention Ted Turner (founder of CNN). His life story is very similar to Logan Roy’s.

Quite something to hear Andrew Neil at 10:30 saying that UK didn't have an 'Algeria' or a 'Vietnam' and that most of the decline-era violence in the British Empire happened after they got out of places???? Hmmm, ignoring the quagmire they got into in Ireland for years from 1916 to 1922 during years of guerrilla warfare during the Irish war of independence, and the disaster they created in Palestine which they ran away from, ditto in India. Not to mention the brutal war that raged for over 30 years in Northern Ireland until a peace was negotiated in 1998. This is why Neil can't be taken seriously, a serious blind spot for his own version of empire.

Murdoch family was represented on a macro level, but the issue was much larger. End of media empire, translated to end of American Empire writ large. The message is the medium, and frightfully influences elections Prime Ministers and Presidents are chosen by the few, for the many.

The main character is a blend of Murdoch with Andrew Carnegie, who built a huge fortune and set foundations up. Personally I see Rupert as a weak person. By weak, his multiple marriages to inappropriate women, which shows a lack of judgement. As RFK Jr told Megyn Kelly in an interview about his friendship with former head of Fox, Roger Ailes, that Murdoch told Ailes that anything of a political nature had to be approved by him. So, when Tucker Carlson showcased certain covert policies plus in his interview with RFK how big pharma was co-opting information about our last health policy, was not allowing real results to be broadcast. 75% of all funding for corporate media is through Big Pharma and in particular Pfizer. Within 3 days of this interview being aired-Carlsen did not get approval for said interview-Tucker Carlsen was fired.

@@RenegadeShepard69 I'm an old school liberal or what is referred to as a "classical liberal" which essentially means I can listen to all view points, then based upon varied information can make my own informed decision. Back when I was young, people of different political belief system could have civil conversations without being so Tribal. With respect to my commenting on RobertaSirgutz8800, she has limited historical background. Further, her statement that message is the medium, is a plagiarism of the Canadian media guru Marshall McLuhan, whose fame was that Media was the message. At least if one is going to use a quote or thought, give credit to the individual who created said term. I've enjoyed Andrew Neil for years and he is a superb interviewer. My understanding is that the Spectator has more of a conservative tone. While I understand that being a conservative in the UK has a different perspective than the US, the conservative party here is not defined by Donald Trump, despite what the corporate media would like to present to people. In addition, I also appreciate Freddy Gray who brings an interesting perspective as well. Also, Douglas Murray seems to float between other channels and he always has something interesting to add.

One can easily see this in the Vanderbilt family as well. This is why the Hearst family was smarter than most, they set up a corporation that runs the businesses and the family only has shares. This keeps the family well funded, but neutered.

So you can thank him as well for the interest rates. You can only speculate on Afghanistan or Ukraine. Trump didn't deliver, trade deficits with China increased. His foreign policy was decent but his domestic policy sucked. Not to mention he almost pulled off a coup. He was treated badly by the press but not the right guy for the job and not a great President.
