    I keep seeing this kind of argument. You're missing the greater point: It's not about you being a woman / a woman saying it, it's an ideology that despises actual feminism and actual masculinity and the binary and differences that exists there. It wishes to homogenise us like a new packet of plasticine being mushed, taking the bright vibrant colours and reducing them down to a miserable brown-green homogeneous sludge. They wish to do this on all fronts, ethnicity included. The people who drive this say that they wish diversity but all the while to seek to remove all differences. As for being told to shut up on this subject: Women although getting a lot of resistance, get to speak louder than *men who oppose this* I can assure you of that.

    I agree too. The original objectives of Gay Pride were to protest against discrimination, harassment and inequality, and to give closeted people a chance to come out in a supportive atmosphere. Those objectives have now largely evaporated, at least here in the UK and in most other civilised western countries. Pride, as it is now called, is simply a carnival, which gives various fetishists, exhibitionists and nutcases an opportunity to make pillocks of themselves in public. It is high time to ring down the curtain.

    Doctor Who has a long history of politicised content. In the Jon Pertwee era of the early '70s there was more than one storyline involving all-powerful, corrupt bosses and the workers who had to organise and unite in order to prevail. But it was handled with a great deal more subtlety than the sledgehammer-weighted propaganda we see today. For gawd's sake, Davros would never have given a damn about pronouns.

    I'm not sure I agree with Andrew Doyle's point at the beginning. I am not sure Tennant was calling for Badenoch to be executed, as such, but I don't think there is an innocent or harmless way of hoping for someone 'not to exist'. You can see he chokes on it himself. But it is incoherent to say in one sentence that you look forward to the time someone doesn't exists and then claim you mean her no harm. It was an absolutely repulsive thing to say in public. Truly disgusting. Is this 'kindness' taught by hoping for someone not to exist?

I put on a camp outfit for the first time ever and took my good camera with me. I took about 5000 shots of the parade, and only when I went back through them did I realise the horrors within. It's turned into a sexual fetish freak show where they insist on it being family friendly and some of the parade participants were actual toddlers walking amongst fully grown men in leather dog masks and the like. Interspersed with brazen commercialism and 'the trans lot' I only ended up going on the one afternoon, going home early and not bothering with the rest of the long weekend. It's been ruined by the likes of Stonewall collecting new 'groups' of 'victims' to add to the alphabet soup and the silly flag, just to justify their own continued existence.

  • @tc6758
    @tc67584 күн бұрын

    The first problem is that we are tolerating abusive ad hominem attacks rather than insisting on reasoned debate and polite disagreement. Secondly, while Tennant is perfectly entitled to criticise Kemi Badenoch's views; he is not entitled to take away her human right to have views and express them. Amplifying this is the gendered nature of the attack - because women are routinely told to shut up, be silent, not to talk too much and be listeners (to male views). Inside the average mixed sex classroom you can see this in action. Research shows that teachers spend far more time (two-thirds more) with boys, asking them more questions, providing more feedback and allowing them to interrupt more. They push boys to think critically while praising girls for being quiet and neat. It's even worse if you're a black girl, because then you're not just subjected to this closet misogyny but are also criticised for being disobedient, defiant and difficult. This ultimately translates into criticism of adult women in the workplace for being 'assertive'. While assertiveness in men is seen as good, assertiveness in woman makes them 'strident', difficult and unlikeable. Women are routinely talked over or ignored in so many contexts, they see it as normal and begin self-silencing. This means decisions, ideas and analysis don't have the benefit of a female perspective and so are frequently not optimal. It affects relationships between men and women as well, with members of both sexes unable to have reasonable discussions with one another. So I appreciate Andrew Doyle's thoughtful comments on this, but it's worse than suggested. Tennant's comments are part of a misogynistic playbook that professional women are still subjected to and thus have much wider resonance than affecting just one, individual woman. The sniggering you heard at the event is the same disrespectful sniggering heard in classrooms and boardrooms when women speak up. It's boring, childish and counterproductive. So easy and popular to criticise the woman rather than criticising a man - why not say that you don't want Sunak to exist/shut up because he's the PM and he says you can't change sex? And then we have the problem of women being threatened with humiliation, loss of earnings/career, vi*lence and r*ape just for disagreeing with (some) men. Better communication would make the world better for everyone and teaching our kids how to communicate effectively, take turns, disagree in an acceptable way, develop listening skills and critical thinking, and debate politely are very important life skills not being adequately taught in UK state schools. These are skills, however, that Andrew Doyle displays throughout this interview which is why (irrespective of whether we agree or not) it's so nice to listen to him.

    Well said Andrew. I have always been rather 'put off' by actors having views on social or political issues. I believe it is unhealthy to use their platform to express their views in a dogmatic manner. Interviews are 'fair game' if an actor is asked a question it becomes beholden for them to provide a response - although they doubtless get a veto for certain questions prior to the interview. If I were to be interviewed (highly unlikely) and was asked about my sexuality or my partner I would respond by telling the interviewer that it is none of their business, because it isn't. There is nothing more off putting that having people rallying to a viewpoint and then dogmatically forcing their viewpoint on others.

    The issue is about twisting of language, biology, and the purpose of life. Our purpose is to reproduce and support society along the way. The reason the gay movement was corrupted into woke and gender ideology, is because it was set on that path long ago. The supposed equality of marriage was the tipping point. Once society accepted marriage was about the adults, that children don't matter, that individual desires and self image matter, and equality means anyone doing what ever they want, everything that has happened since was inevitable. We convinced ourselves two men and two women can have a family, whereas the reality is it is one parent raising a child with a non-relative and being abandoned by the other parent. We now believe being a parent is nothing to do with biological reality. I used to support gay marriage, but now it is hard not to see this was the beginning of the slide into oblivion and our collective self delusion about even the most fundamental tenets of reality. With the collapse of birth rates, the necessary return to an archaic puritanical society seems inevitable.
