When I wrote this song, I always imagined that it would be sung by the greatest tenor on earth, Pavarotti. He gave it a hard pass. Said it was, “too black sounding” for him. As Bocelli doesn’t see color, he was fine with it. I’m so happy that folks can unwind to this after a hard day’s work. It’s got that “Thank God, I’m a country boy!” vibe.

I saw him in Baltimore this February. Literally made me cry. 🥰🥹

my mom would play this for me every night for 6 years since i was 2 years old, listening to it again after all this time brings me to tears, i love this song and ill continue to pass it on to my kids when they sleep.

As a 30 year old who loves hard rock, this man by far has the best voice i ever heard. Parents listened to him a lot when i was younger, this song is pure beauty

Well, Josh Grobans voice is a bit ahead, but no doubt that Bocelli is an outstanding man and singer and an inspiration for many.

In my opinion, the greatest song of all time.

No one can replace Pavoratti, but in my opinion Andrea comes the closest for my generation. Just a phenomenal talent as a tenor. There's obvious differences. Pav was all about power and emotion. Andrea is about smoothness and finesse. But he's arguably the best pure tenor to reach these heights of success of the past 30 years.

My grandmother played this as well. I didn’t appreciate the beauty of this song until I found a passion for singing myself. I just found this song after almost 15 years since i last heard it. My grandma is now in a nursing home, I’m going to play it for her when i see her again.

My grandmother also played this song to me when I was a kid. I was 9 when I first heard this. I loved this song and Andrea's voice then, and 26 years later I still love it. It's one of those songs that has memories attatched to it, and it gives me tears every time I hear it for that reason.

1997 I was an English speaking DJ at a radio station in Luxembourg, affiliate of the Europe2 network. It was a pop station (Ugly Kid Joe, Hootie and the Blowfish, Goo Goo Dolls) but the station manager insisted that I add this number to the format. I didn't think it appropriate but am so glad that he forced me to. It was such a brilliant song and very well received among European taste.... not only by the country's large ethnic Italian population but by absolutely everyone. Bravo.

Mi hijo de 3 años ama este tema. Desde que nació ponérselo era lo mejor para dormirlo y tranquilizarlo. Y aún le gusta mucho y lo repite varias veces.
