I like Anderson, I do. I'm sure he put in the work, and he deserves all the success he has. And he had significant challenges growing up, albeit, not necessarily what the average person experiences. But lets get real. Anderson's parent's money and name opened doors for him, sent him to the best schools etc. Did they have the wealth of his grandparents? No. However, he was given a pretty amazing head start in life.

Anderson Cooper is interesting, For years I've regrettably had a crush on him to no avail of course. He is an American Icon in his own right argumentatively the most renouned reporter of this era.

I understand the point of trying to teach your children the value of money and work, and the nedd to work, but to say without hesitating 'I won't leave my children' anything is also terribly strange and I find it disturbing. They are not guilty of having well off or rich parents, and if there is anyone to love and care for is one's children. The thing is one has to bring them up with the proper values, and not as idle rich puppets. Leaving everything to others out of that sentiment and feeling can also be hurtful. If I were rich, I would leave my money also to my children, because I would probably love them more than anything else. There is nothing wrong with that, per se. Quite strange!

Anderson should read Robert A Heinlein’s books about the Howard Foundation. The concept is you leave your descendants money, but they must earn and match the amount before it’s released. Not leaving them anything so that they struggle illustrates just how much the rich don’t know what the struggle is.

I like Anderson BUT if you are born into such a family, many more doors to prosperity open to you. It's easy to say you won't leave your kids money, when they will have it made just by birth. For most families, this is not the case. Most regular people struggle, and anything left to one's children will only help their struggles.

I am not surprised about the gayness being big in the family thing. Firstly, it DOES run in the family sometimes. And, when I've seen that photo of baby Gloria held by the lady relative, that he has on the cover, I thought it was 'TONY CURTIS' starring in 'SOME LIKE IT HOT' ! The 30's cloche hat, and mannish face, they might have styled him copying that in '59 when they filmed it! Several family members said the same thing when looking at the photo, which I'd seen before, BTW.

Interesting video and interview. My comment and observation are not to take away his own merit, for I admire Anderson a lot and I am sure he is a great guy. However, even though, he did not inherit his mother’s money, as he said, he had the best education the money could buy, the famous name and he knew/knows the most influential people that could open the doors for great job opportunities. I am glad he did not take those for granted, like many spoiled rich brats, and built himself a great life. It shows how important it is to teach real values to children.
