I just did 20 of these. The roller issue can be fixed by making sure all 5 screws on the crank side are tight. Add a line of mono on the reel before the braid. It is actually sliding on the reel. It isn't the clutch not grabbing. The new Mad Katz come with a HUGE warning about this.

You don't need mono the spool for the braid to grab, using mono actually is bad as well cause the mono will continue stretch causing problems further down the line after continuing use of the Reel with braid. . OUR ANACONDA KNOT doesn't slip we have done extreme testing as well and over a decade 1000s of Reels spooled.. please check it out for yourself will definitely be something you will add to your tackle set ups

You are of a gentle heart. I would have channeled some negativity see the initial performance of those reels.

I trying to be as fair as possible on everyone's gear...

ancient mariner will usually fix it or send you a new one. I have had 2 that had something wrong with them and they made it right. I have had a total of 4 of their reels a combination of open face and bait casters and my opinion the open face are better. I have an open face that I have had for 3/4 years and never had any issues and caught lots of fish with it.
