When we think of ancient Egypt, the first things that cross our mind are mummies and pyramids, as well as the mysterious death of Tutankhamun. But that is merely a beginning. There are so many more fascinating things to discover and explore. Year after year, new excavations reveal amazing artifacts, such as clay objects that still display the fingerprints of ancient artisans. Other items help us discover the particular diseases an individual suffered from before he or she got mummified. So many small insights help us get to know ancient Egyptians-their daily lives, their drives, and motivations, emotions and weaknesses that are just like ours.

It's crazy to think Cleopatra was born closer to our time than she was to the creation of the Great pyramids.

The servants and family members were NOT usually buried alive and/or sacrificed for the king. The only time this happened was with King Aha (Menes) of the first Dynasty, as well as possibly in the predynastic Naqada period

Liked the clip. Took note of the fact the Country was one of the first to officially (?) use a form of feudalism. One might surmise that this form of government was a mere extension of the political setups of earlier city-states or villages in the region. Honchos like being large and in charge, even today that is true. What ever the form of government?

10:42 - very mysterious picture about small people on the chariots. I suppose, that could be Nubian dwarves, who were, for some reason, very popular in Ancient Egypt as "signs of luxury". Here they are archers. Or we see children on this picture - but very strange to engage children in the fierce battle.

Egypt's history goes back further than the time of the pharaohs. Predynastic groups still lived there, but were unified by King Narmer in 3100 BCE.

There where two ancient Egyptian kingdoms. Northern and Southern. The Southern kingdom is now under the ocean. You can Google images of underwater Egyptian pyramids, or artifacts. You can see it is the same writing and statues. Historians are wrong. The pyramids where built when the oceans where at their lowest point.

I am African American, and she is Greek. Why do you think she is talk about? This is when the region began to undergo demographic shifts due to various invasions, including Persians, Assyrians, Greeks, Romans, and Arabs. The rest of the population consisted of indigenous black Africans. It's worth noting that discussions often overlook they try include these invaders into the narrative like they were rulers creating a narrative that seeks to appropriate and distort history. The ancestral Kemetic kings, for example, likely wouldn't identify themselves as Egyptians since they would perceive these incoming groups as adversaries.
