Anatoly Lomachenko: The Anatoly Pivot

Спорт

A brief analysis on one of boxing's greatest trainers: Anatoly Lomachenko. In this IGLUprofile, I specifically examine the Anatoly pivot and how Gvozdyk, Usyk, and Lomachenko exploit its advantages despite each possessing a vastly different style.
Note: While Usyk's application of the pivot does not rely on a static opponent, a fighter who has been forced to retreat straight backwards is not much better than one who is standing still. Settling is not defined by a lack of motion, but rather by ineffective defensive tendencies to guard blindly or back up linearly. Committing to either is equivalent to "settling."

These are the fighters that really show us what a "sweet science" the sport of boxing is.

“Used when opponent settle both feet” Sounds like common sense but i don’t think I ever thought about this when thinking about my timing of when to do a pivot. Also “Right hook to shift weight and occupy the opponents guard to ensure safe entry” These are the little gems that I’ve been looking for. Thanks a lot! Awesome video

Oh I didn't know that! I watched Baranchyk on the WBSS and clips of his highlights always pop up in my feed. I'll definitely look at him with more scrutiny now

Excellent video. Im a big fan of lomachenko but in my opinion, Crawford is the best fighter in boxing right now.

While Besputin is certainly very talented, he has yet to come close to the level of success garnered by Usyk, Lomachenko, and Gvozdyk. This video only focused on Anatoly's most established prodigies, but, when I publish a video on rising stars and prospects, I'll be sure to include Besputin.

I'm gonna take u to school boy.. Anatoly used techniques gained from cus domato peek a boo... It was first called the damato shift.. Tyson, Floyd Patterson and torres all executed the techniques...

@Nikolaij Brouiller I can't be taken to school if I already know the subject matter.. Harry greb especially Sam Langford both inspired cus in the development of this exciting defensive style.. But I'm not naive enough not to believe that there might have been fighters who have learnt to shift predating 1900s.. There have always been fighters who were years ahead of there time.. Too bad television was not in vented back then to prove this theory..
