For some reason when I try to access the anamorphic de squeeze, it just says "this operation or setting not available as follows" then says log shooting. Do I have to be in a specific pp?

Good that you ask, I forgot to mention that: In order to use the de squeeze, you must be in one of the log shooting modes (Cine EI, Cine EI Quick, Flexible ISO). If you have set Log Shooting to off, you can’t use the de squeeze - don’t ask me why. Menu - Shooting - Image Quality/Rec - Log Shooting Settings

Im curious to know your thoughts on the DCI 4k option. It looks like it crops the top and bottom to get the dci 4k aspect ratio (while still having more resolution of course). My question is if this DCI 4k crops the image as opposed to getting a wider field of view, what are the benefits of using it? The only things I can think of is to match other cinema cameras’ frame rate & resolution. For people not working with other cinema cameras, its best to stick with 4k UHD right? Idk I’m not knowledgeable in this 😅 just trying to figure things out

You understood that very well. DCI 4K is a cropped readout and in this case it may be the case that only here there is actual 24P in the FX3, but that is not necessarily a DCI thing. Originally, my answer here was different, but then I checked it again. And in fact, the DCI 4K resolution here is different than in the FX6. Because it’s not a 1:1 readout here, it actually makes a little more sense than in the FX6, where you really get a little crop. But in the end it is a technical prerequisite in some places and otherwise not earth-shattering. I think it’s wonderful when there are people who try to understand and find out things, keep it up!

おそらく、この機能は将来のファームウェアアップデートで追加されるかもしれません。結局のところ、タイムコードもファームウェアアップデートでA7S3に追加されました。一方で、このカメラはもう少し古いため、ソニーが古いカメラの新機能に多くのリソースを割り当てたくないと考えられます.
