I would say Pinkie Pie contributes all the love languages. She has a detailed list of everypony in ponyville so that she uses whatever love language speaks most to them.

That's exactly what I thought, as she knows everyone's personality so well that she knows exactly what to give them to make them feel appreciated. And Hallelujah's statement on her appreciation of words of affirmation for Pinkie was spot on with my guess too.

Eh...I'd say he's is a combination of Gifts and Acts of Service. Gifts because she keeps detailed lists of preferences, this includes understanding what gift to give someone. If she gave fluttershy a stuffed animal that pinkie made? That's a good example of gifts. As for recieving? I think physical touch and words of affirmation.

I agree Fluttershy shows her love through quality time and words of affirmation. She's always quick to give verbal encouragement and being so skittish and avoidant the fact she pushes herself through her nerves and fears to be there for others speaks volumes to her capacity for empathy; she really is the element of kindness.

Twilight Sparkle's Love Language includes Quality Time. Evidence: When she first came to Ponyville, she wanted to spend as little time as possible with other ponies. Reading/writing letters to Celestia and her brother count, because of her BBBFF song and reprise. In that song she also talks about all the time they spent together. It could be said that Twilight's worst fear in The Crystal Heart Prt 2 is no longer being able to spend time with Celestia. When Spike makes remarks about the pictures on the wall in Amending Fences, the pictures are symbols of the times they had together. The same can be said about the memories hanging from the roots. For more evidence, I suggest looking into episodes featuring Shining Armor, Cadence, Flurry Heart, and Celestia. These are the ponies she appears to love the most. In her special case, ironically, friendship is a lesser form of love. I understand this because I do not say I 'love' my friends: they are only friends, they are not family.

It was mentioned in a bit of a roundabout manner, but Fluttershy is also one who carries the title of peacemaker. When multiple sides argue against each other, she's the one trying to find the connecting line between all involved members, to bring everyone back to a clear focal point. She is the one who heals those who are hurting, and carefully watches and protects "the least of these". As for Twilight, she actually exhibits all of the love languages to some degree, and doesn't stick to only one method. She LOVES to serve when she can, "Winter Wrap Up" had her searching an entire episode to see how she can help. In "P.P.O.V", season 6, episode 22, the one about the cruise, Twilight uses her analysis skills to bring peace to three of her bickering friends, that would fall under "peacemaking". She gives when she can. There isn't a lot in the way of material goods that anyone wants from her, but there IS a certain Indiana Jones knockoff novel series that she loves to share around. And to finalize, she's no slouch at giving physical affection either. Maybe not nearly as much as some, but it's definitely not devoid of it. So yeah, again, she shows a bit of all of them.

THEORY Twilight comes around as the 6th pony.. and if you google '6th love language' You find the 'approval of others' as the 6th one, which I do agree with, the need to be accepted.

I have a hypothesis, let's see if other commenters confirm this: Twilight is designed to be a character that anyone can relate to, such that whatever personality or love language you have can be projected onto her. This would mean that whatever your love language is, you can see that in Twilight. I always love it when my parents, music teacher, or college professor tell me I did well in something (Words of Affirmation), so I personally relate most to Twilight's love of being complimented by a mentor figure. However, I can see someone else who loves Quality Time relating to Twilight's desire to be close to those she cares for most, being done with visiting time when the "quality" has passed, and not necessarily caring that much for others. There may be other examples, but as one who myself most likes words of affirmation, I personally see that most in Twilight. Is this "projection" hypothesis a fair assessment, or is she definitely stronger in one than others? What do you think?

I've always put Twilight and Rarity in the middle. Then put Rainbow Dash and Applejack on the left of Twilight's side and Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie on the right of Rarity's. I did this is because Twilight, Applejack and Rainbow Dash are the three who use their abilities their respective Pony type such as spells, crops and flight more often than Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy

Love how this goes just beyond what they give in terms of love. Most videos stop there. But reception of love is just as important.

I think Pinkie Pie's primary love language is physical touch! She's CONSTANTLY touching her friends or hugging her friends or getting in her friends' personal space in a playful and affectionate way. It doesn't affect the story much but it's EVERYWHERE in the show.

My opinion on Twilight's love language. I think it's words of affirmation. Sure, i haven't watched Mlp in a *HOT* minute, but I'm sure most of you can think of more than one episode where she says something like "We can get this done, together.", showing her encouragement to the rest of the Mane 6.

Holy projection time, Batman! Umm, what she wants most is physical touch and time. What she gives most is words of affirmation.

I created “attack hugs” and do it all the time. I hug all my friends.

Twilight seems to be learning from, and contributing to each of these languages of love. This is the ultimate reason why Twilight became the princess of friendship. And I do agree that Rainbow Dash does not respond well to words of affirmation, mostly because of her interactions with her parents, before Scootaloo reminded Rainbow of her priorities.

In love language form then rainbow is my ideal type

I think my love language is physical affection, words of affirmation, and quality time.

Twilight contributes acts of service: It's shown that Twilight is willing to face great danger, plan, work hard for, and even die for her friends, particularly in the seasons 3, 4, and 5 endings. Planning and foreshadowing: in "Twilight Time", you can see a blueprint for the magic box in the background of her house. Twilight sometimes over-extends herself however, and learns to say no to requests in season 7: "A Flurry of Emotions" & "Once Upon a Zeppelin". She often gives words of affirmation to others, even if she has to humble herself to do so: "No Second Prances". In the early seasons of the show, she most appreciated words of affirmation. We only see her parents in a flashback until Season 6. She gained self-confidence over time, and now she appreciates quality time more. One of the few times in the show she cries and gets angry is when she missed seeing shooting stars with family in "Once Upon a Zeppelin".

Ah yes, the Romance languages- there is also Portuguese, Romanian, and Catalan. I haven't heard them being called the languages of love, but the language of ancient Rome simply evolved.

Twilight gives act of service and appreciates quality time

Mine is Physical affection

I'm good with Acts of Service and Physical Affection, since I don't really like speaking and I stress out when I have to give gifts. I can do Quality Time too, but I usually can't because of my family. I like Physical Affection and Quality Time, just laying in eachother's laps while on our phones, or being in the same room as one of us cooks, and we either chat or just hang out, sometimes with music in the background. Unfortunately, because I feel bad for invading people's space as an American thing(we tend to have bigger personal space bubbles) I won't deliver Physical Affection unless you show that you like doing it to me(like this one girl named Jenny who always hung off of me, held my hands, and hugged me, she was always cold so that might have had something to do with it) or if I feel that you're upset and really need a hug or to just hold hands and know that you aren't alone. As for Twilight, I think she likes Words of Affirmation or Acts of Service, and I think she gives Gifts? Is knowledge considered a gift? Idk, I don't pay too much attention to her as my second least favorite of the six(she isn't bad, I just like Rainbow, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Pinkie more)

I think Twilight shows affection through words of affirmation She probably second guesses how good she is at it; but she does it an awful lot when her friend are having trouble. You could also say she performs acts of service in, that if SHE can't help her friends, she goes off to find someone who can. Which is better than nothing. I think in return she appreciates action most of all when it comes to friendship. So acts of service might be her preferred language :3 When her friends came to her aid; that's when she really felt appreciated, it shows in the first episode, and even in that human-high school pony movie thing o3o (I forget the name of it) no matter the AU, her friends never abandon her. That's what seems to matter most to her

Twilight gives Act of services because she is always willing to help. but she depends on Words of Affirmation.even Celestia tells Twilight they are equal twilight still seeks stuff to get words of praise.

That is Wonderful. Thank you for those kind words. When people call me a crazy environmentalist, I tell them I'm not a Tree Hugger I only measure them with my arms.

I know this is late but... Fluttershy does quality time, because she hangs out with her friends a lot, even if she herself doesn't really enjoy it, not to mention she lives with a ton of animals. I think she likes quality time too, all the more reason to do it.

Im a mix between aj, fluttershy and pinkie. I want to be able to help everyone I can and seeing other people smile in general makes me happy. But I also like time alone but time eith others I live i prefer.

Tldr:Twilight expresses through acts of services and gift giving,and appreciates words of affirmation. I personally think that out of all of them,twilight might have the strongest case for acts of service. Mostly because of the fact that while alot of her friendly gestures could be considered gift giving, example being dropping everything to help research a question somebody asked her...she does this alot, I wouldn't co wider them gifts because they don't feel personalized in the same way a gift would. It's not like rarity's dresses or pinkies parties. She does it because she likes doing it,but if twilight had a job in researching then I could see her as less passionate for it and more so doing ot because its what she's good at. Gift giving is what she strives for,but researching something isn't quite a gift. After season three however,it'd definitely shift to gift giving since her role is to literally share the gift of friendship.However,its a bit too on the nose and again its her job. If she never became the princess of friendship she would,again,probably become a sort of researcher with a passion for books instead of people. I think she appreciated words of affirmation because she looks to the words of others in order to know that she's doing a good job,and easily gets lost in her own self doubt and negativity. Sure,she's better at it now,but she gets terrified when she's left to her own devices and really appreciates it when her friends or the other princesses tell her she's doing a good job.

Hallelujah Brony Absolutely. I figured out how she shows love. She uses her talents, (her intellect, skills, efforts, persistent work), to help those in need. As the princess of friendship, she has developed interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts and work through differences to develop friendship, she may miss the mark when it comes to knowing what would make them feel loved. This resent episode, season 7 episode 1, what Spike thought was a poor choice of gift, turned out to be heartwarmingly received, appropriate present for Starlight Glimmer. It somewhat reminds me of the decorating efforts of the five friends for Twilight in Castle Sweet Castle. They all learned a lesson not just in collaborative work but also in empathy required to show true love to their friend.

That was very well thought out. Sounds like you are saying that Acts of Service to her friends and and resolving conflict through Words of Affirmation to remind them what really matters are her primary and secondary languages. And you are exactly right, the characters aren't... 'one trick ponies' in their expressed love language- it always changes based on the situation. I myself need to learn that.

Is there a difference between words of affirmation and words of validation? Because I certainly would like one of those things when I share stuff with others that took me hours to make! But do I ever get a simple "Oh that's neat" or a "That's interesting"? Nooooo!
