Analysing ELLEIGH MARIE's stunning Idol audition! Singing "I can't make you love me" (Bonnie Raitt)

Музыка

I really do like EVERYTHING about this young singer: her heart, personality, voice, artistry, technique... It was such a joy for me to listen to her cover this beautiful song by Bonnie Raitt!
I this was also the first time this season where Luke said "I think she's Top 10", which I tend to agree with. While the tone and quality of her sound is great, it was the control (technique) that impressed me, as well as her ability to make us FEEL what the song was about. Loved it.
Do you agree with my assessment? I would love to hear from you!

If love has a sound in 2024 it sounds like this. I know there is that Karen Carpenter stuff but we are talking 2024 here which the younger generation has been deprived of to some extent because the use of pitch correction sucks out the life, and by logical extension the love as well, from the human voice especially from loving singers. Thank you Jesus for this one and a few others on AI this year. Is this coincidental these voices are voices of believers? Something to ponder about. You condition your voice to be loving by singing in church you grow in it. It's just how life works. You have what you give.

Military kids aren't a sob story. Their dads are still alive, they have money, get perks and discounts, get praised wherever they go, and forever health insurance!

Totally agree! I was shocked when Luke Bryan said she was top 10. Nothing special about her voice.

I don't like that Kati asked about her dad after she mentioned her mom. Why? Smacks of a setup for sure, and a clumsy one at that. I liked Idol SO much more before they went for the sob stories on day 1. I agree that experiences with the world change people - but this is a singing competition, and THAT should always be the focus. Elleigh is good enough to be moved along based on her ability, not her Dad's service, not her tough family life, not anything other than her talent. How will she ever KNOW that, if they didn't even give her a crack at it. That said, I like her a lot and hope she goes far.

Minor correction. This is a TV reality show singing competition. The added spices make good TV. It boosts ratings. And finally it brings in the money from the sponsors. It's TV does what TV always did and probably always will. Singing is the major focus but it does other things as well like create drama by showcasing the lifestories of the contestants so we know more about their personalities. This in turn allows for proper context to some songs they perform and why they chose those songs. This makes nana and grandpa very happy watching on their couch because the song becomes more touching and more heartfelt.

Yeah... I know the producers prompt the judges on certain contestants' stories, so make good TV. I agree with you that she deserves to go on into the competition, based on merit!
