Hey, this would make a great series. I am not gonna mention that same guitar company again. I really think there are a lot of underrated guitars out there. I am not sure if you have an affiliate yet but this is definitely a good avenue. (Not trying to give you business advice) you are pretty experienced in what was available throughout the 80's 90's up to today. The LP (single cutaway) i have from an off label company that is available on the net is actually a pretty nice guitar. It weights 11lbs but it should. Others available on Amazon are pretty dang good man.

I am an Amazon affiliate but not anything else. As I grow I’ll try to get more of that type of thing. I have another KZread channel with over 25k subs (music trivia shorts) that is where I get my gear money from. When I pay for stuff with my own money I feel I can give a much more honest review.

Just a thought, on an open chord such as d, try a little muting on the open E, and as you said, lighter touch should prevail in tall frets

I'm starting to learn that some of the issue is nut slot depth is not correct on these guitars. I think the manufacturers lean on the side of too high action so that people can lower to their taste. I did a review on the Squier Debut and that guitar was terribly out of intonation and I corrected that and lowered the nut slot depth and it's really easy to play now.

I wonder how many actually play high on the fretboard to complain on the heal complain about the heal joint

I personally don't feel the difference between a guitar with that tapered heel or contoured cutout and those without it. I think it feel awkward to hit those high notes on any 21 fret guitar. Maybe why they make 24 fret guitars!
