An Oral History of ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’ with Edgar Wright | Rotten Tomatoes
Cult classic ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’ is getting a special theatrical re-release on April 30 to mark 10 years since it first hit the big screen. (Well, 11 years, technically, but the pandemic scuttled plans for an anniversary re-release last year.) To mark the occasion, director Edgar Wright sat down with Rotten Tomatoes for an exclusive and extended deep dive on how he and his creative team brought to life this beloved comic book about an awkward bass player forced to take on his girlfriend’s seven evil exes. Wright reveals how the project first came into his life, how he cast a group of future superstars, the way he got Beck involved in the soundtrack, and why he ended up spending one day on set looking for teeth in a pile of coins. Plus, the celebrated director shares his favorite easter eggs and quotes from the movie, and reflects on what it is that drew him to this unique story.

Absolutely
Edgar Weight is one of my favorite minds of film. Scott Pilgrim as loved as it is just might be the most underrated film of all time. Nobody I know that has seen it didn’t absolutely love it.
Not another movie like it. Pure gem. Never get bored watching it over and over again. Masterpiece!
Edgar Wright is the future of filmmaking.

I just love this, thank you for the trip down the memory lane.
Scott Pilgrim vs the World is one of those movies where boring you is illegal.
Love this movie, one of my faves
It was a difficult film to market well under the best of circumstances. And while Michael Cera did a great job and was a good choice for the role, he was coming off a bunch of bad movies in a short amount of time when Scott Pilgrim came out. It was exactly the wrong moment to wheel out another quirky Michael Cera vehicle, which was unavoidably how this was perceived. Two years earlier things might have gone much differently.
Oh that's actually hilarious
I LOVE IT ED!
I love Edgar Wright so much!
