Good afternoon Sarge! Great video! I've actually picked up the diatonic harmonica early last year (and more recently, the chromatic harmonica, as I enjoy playing the full chromatic scale without bends) and have been following you for quite a while now. I really admire the style you play in because it is unique with notes blending together, making any song really dynamic and establishing that rhythmic folk tune. Folk music and various sea shanty songs are really captivating to play on the diatonic and are my main two genres of interest. The concertina and accordion can also be used for shanties with a very similar sound to the harmonica (Although these instruments were probably not taken out to sea that often :D). Might be an unusual request, but it would really make my day if you could do a harmonica rendition of "The Logging Song", sung by the late folk singer Bill Staines, who had a long and pretty impressive history of folk music. I really like that song and it would be interesting and awesome to hear your rendition of it in your signature old-time harmonica style. Do you think it can be done? Have a good rest of the day, sir.

@@1seesaw2 Awesome, thank you so much! It is just amazing how you manage to combine and produce that dynamic melody with an established rhythm and I think you should be given more credit for it! I haven't heard of anyone who plays harmonica in a style like yours. How soon after you started playing would you say you developed that style?

@@omare.8318 Well, I started when I was 10 yrs old learning from my Grandfather, Father and two Uncles. They all played in the old time style. My Grandfather learned that style from his Grandfather and so on. Anyway after I got to where I could pretty well (roughly) play a song after hearing it a few times. One of my Uncles started working with me on tongue blocking to get one single note, then he and my Dad started helping me to learn how to use tongue blocking to form different rhythms. I suppose I was playing the old time style fairly well after two years, but being a young feller I had more things I wanted to do than play the harmonica. I imagine if I had practiced more it wouldn't have taken as long to get going on that old time style.

@@1seesaw2 That's amazing that you started playing early since childhood. I'm in my 20's and just started playing recently around a year ago. They say that childhood is the best time to learn things because your brain is really like a sponge at that age and able to absorb lots of information. I imagine if I learned earlier I could have picked it up a lot faster.

@@omare.8318 Ok Omar, here's my try at The Logging Song. I did alter it a bit in the fact that I played the short chorus part twice instead of once. Anyway I hope you like it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/da6qpZuNm924f84.html
