I’ve scanned my face which is now printing :) pretty amazing software in my opinion, and that’s without a lidar. I’m also printing a small turntable to try it out on smaller objects.

Did you try to scan smaller objects? I am looking to scan 20-50mm parts and I don't need perfect accuracy just a general shape.

@@Ken-zg3ze the smallest thing I've tried was the "baby Yoda", which is 7cm. It picks up the shape but not the very fine details kzread.info/dash/bejne/lop3xLymebvVhKw.html

Just bought the program. It's so awesome! I'm shocked it's only got 4 reviews on the app store according to my phone. It's amazing.

Before I even finished watching your video I went to the App Store and got EM3D and did a test scan of my ugly face and WOW 😮. This is gonna be useful for me making 3D printed helmets that will actually fit. Now to finish watching your video 😉

Very in depth, thorough review. Great work. By the way currently using the EM3D scanning app, and loving it!

Nice in depth review. Thanks for doing comparisons so I didn’t have to. I downloaded the EM3D scanner app and can’t stop scanning things.

BS, same comment as above! Paid commenting much? All 3D scanning is crap, esp the quality portrayed in this 2D video..

I need help, the scan I made is of good quality but when I export it in obj, stl whatever it is the quality deteriorates

I have a question, I’m just trying the em3d app and every time it finishes a scan it automatically softens the polygons losing detail in the process Is this how the file will export or is just part of the preview

Great review. Looking forward to more videos with your charming style. There's a "hidden" feature of EM3D. If you start the screen recording while on the "scene preview" screen, it hides the Action and Dismiss buttons while you're recording, so you have a big empty canvas. On the contrary, if you start screen recording while on a different screen, it assumes you're doing a tutorial video, so it doesn't hide the buttons.

Yaaah! I tested a bunch of apps. ScandyPro came closest but was fucking annoying. This looks really promising! Thanks so much for sharing!

I think I've put it on a plate, fixed the iPhone and slowly rotate the plate.

Hi I have ordered that on my iPhone 12 pro, I have been practicing a lot and definitely looking good but now, I was wondering I ordered the all you download stl files but I do seem to have a hard time downloading these to my computer. Any help would be awesome. thank you

after "export stl" then you get the possibility of sending it via airdrop or email to your computer

Is there a android version, when i downloaded the one in the play store - i realized it was a viewer only. Did not see a em3d scanner

I think it's only for the iPhone (front face camera)

Please, does it work with the LIDAR sensor of iPhone 12?

no, this use the front face camera, not the camera LIDAR on the back. (or at least not yet)

​@@v_saggiomo , i do believe it uses the front TrueDepth that is actually more in-depth and has finer measurements for scanning a face than LiDAR that's designed for larger range depth mapping over a wider range.

How did you export the file to your computer

there are tons of export option. on a Mac I used airdrop

i dont know if the paid version is any better but the free one is useless it does loose track all the time impossible to get a scan

app-wise yes. otherwise there are some handheld scanners available now (for example the revopoint ones)
