There is an additional benefit not mentioned. If the printing block wears out, you can just print another one, identical! Also to smooth out the print you could put the printing block on your heated bed with something flat and heavy, just briefly, to slightly melt out the imperfections.

I have 3 printers operating in the 3x3 m room, and there is also a Xiaomi air purifier with presumably a HEPA filter. While the air purifier is measuring PM 2.5 at 0-1 which is like the purest you can get, going inside the room after 2-3 hours of simultaneous printing gives me a bad cough right away. IDK, maybe it's the smaller particles like PM 1.0, or the really dry air (28-30% relative humidity) or the oxygen burned out by the high temps, but it's not as harmless and normal as I hoped it would be, additional ventilation is a must. P.S. I'm printing with PLA

Just stumbled onto this channel and had a quick question. Why did you choose ABS and not a water soluble polymer like PVA? is PDMS compatible with H2O? i assume so right? Also greeting from the netherlands!
@v_saggiomo10 ай бұрын
you're right. It is possible to use PVA and someone did it years after we used ABS/acetone. In 2015, when we did it, PVA was not yet that much available, and very difficult to print. Nowadays it's better. a second point is that ABS/Acetone is faster than PVA/water as acetone is swelling the PDMS just a little bit that favours the dissolution of the ABS. cheers :)
