An HONEST Review After 5,000 Miles on the Harley Street Bob 114! I've had my Street Bob 114 now for over 5,000 miles so its time to give some of my honest feedback on everything relating to the bike so far. I will give my honest opinion on everything I have experienced with the bike so far!

I’ve ridden the Street Bob 114 a few times. My brother and my sister-in-law both bought one. Neither had their license until a short time after buying the bikes. So, I rode their bikes home for them. They live about 1 1/2 hours away or around 70 miles. I know that’s not 5k miles, but I enjoyed the ride. I rode backroads with some good curves in the roads. It rode great!

Bought a 2023 street bob end of june this year. just turned 5,200 miles. I think your assessment is pretty accurate. I have S&S slip-ons and a S.E. tune, and I think the power is way more than adequate. I can spin away from a stop light ( and I am not a light person). but the power is a bit much in the rain with the stock tires. I can break traction at will in the rain. Changed out the stock seat (which is so bad it should be illegal). have 8" risers and 3" bars. great setup. I also put thrashin mini boards on it to move my feet back. they really make a big difference. it is my daily commuter bike (43 miles each way in and out of DC). Having said all that, when it comes to a longer distance ride (like 400 miles or so) I still take my 2004 dyna low rider. I think it just fits me better and I'm not a fan of the monoshock. great videos. keep up the good work.

I'm @ 7600 miles and still Digg this bike. I just installed commander III tires on and transformed the riding experience. Long story short I recommend the commanders over the stock Dunlops. I too installed the spc 2-1 exhaust. I can just say I'm very happy with the smoothness that I did't realize that I was missing. I sounds great too. The handle bars will be next. Thanks for your review

I bought this bike 12 months ago and have 14,000 miles on it. Absolutely love it! Installed the tab zombie pipes on it and just had the Stage IV M8 131 upgrade installed on it along with tuner and upgraded clutch. I also installed a tank lift, removed all the padding in the seat and replaced it with gel and put a rear pillion rack on it for the bag and just installed the kahuna heated grips (can't belive I didn't start using heated grips years ago). That stage IV is a bit thirsty along with more power and more sound as well (along with a bit more heat radiation). A 114 in this bike was enough, but the 131 is a bit beastly for it. Love the design of this thing.... has a nice retro look off the rack. I'm very surprised that this bike isn't more popular..... I ride more than the people that call this a barhopper. I'm a super big fan of naked bikes..... and this one is fun, fun fun!

Love that you are honestly reviewing bikes! Helps me out for when I'm ready to get a bike, the only thing is your intro is quite long.. it took you 4 minutes to say the same thing of having the bike for 5k miles, but not actually getting to the experience. That's my only feedback, still love your videos! Keep making more!

My 2022 is two years old this week. 24,000 miles. Changed fork seals at 12000 and replaced gas cap. I also have drilled three half inch holes in each baffle and removed all the fiberglass. Here in Houston the bike runs hot wished it had liquid cooled heads but when it's cooler at night it goes good. I found it handled really good when I open it up in corners with the resulting slide quite predictable and smooth. I like it more than my old2012 twin cam 103.

As far as fork seals go, with those fork gaitors, you won't know if you have an issue till you notice significant front end dive. I like the way they look and that they protect the vulnerable part of the fork tube from sand and rocks and shit. Also keeps road debris from prematurely wearing the fork seals. That said the seals should last longer .

I'll chime in here. I've owned two Sportsters, and I'm currently on my first Big Twin, an FXST. Going from a Sportster to a Big Twin is an upgrade in power, and a downgrade in agility and cost of ownership. When I say it's a downgrade in cost of ownership, I mean you will pay more for a bigger bike. So, like everything else in life, there are tradeoffs.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking real hard at the Street Bob. Coming from a Sportster. Looking for an around town bike with a bit more power and comfort. I figure a new seat is a given, but since highway would be the exception I think I'd skip the windscreen. I like the minimalist/naked look. Biggest things making me hesitant to pull the trigger - gas tank capacity (actually 1 gallon less than my Sportster!), and colors. I'd probably swap the seat in the first week, and then a custom paint job. Might even consider an aftermarket tank then the paint job.

I did this exact thing. The street bob with the 114 has scratched every itch I had, and don’t really feel the need to get a low rider ST. I still wanted a relatively light Harley, but with the biggest displacement traditional style engine I could get. I put a small Memphis shades windshield on and it’s all I need to tour 400+ miles. I’m young, only 30 so I don’t need a lot of creature comforts but the softail is way better long distance than my iron 1200 was. And the 114 has ALOT more power, half the time I don’t even need the 6th gear but it’s definitely welcome if we ever get a stretch of road that clear in DFW. My 114 has a half gallon larger tank than my sporty did, it’s a negligible difference and maybe my only gripe really.

Thanks for the review. I’m traded my 21’ street bob for a 2020 48’ sportster. I have a herniate disc in my lower back and two bad shoulders, one with a severed bicep tendon. I thought I might try some long trips, but it became apparent that 100 miles was about all I could take in a day. So downsizing a little knocked off slightly a100lbs of manhandling weight. With that said, I believe you have a sportster too. So maybe with your knowledge you could fill me in on finding a bigger gas tank, by at least a gal more above my 2.2 present capacity. I know, with my previous comment why! I go out to my daughters houses frequently to visit and thats one way 35 and 50 miles either or. On my way home or there I have to stop and fill up, which some times is inconvenient. It’s not a critical thing, but it would make things a little more relaxing. Thanks!

IIRC, the 4.5 gallon tank was found on the EFI 1200 Roadster and the Custom models. Go to the dealership and grab the Parts and Accessories catalog, and if they still offer the tanks they'll be in there. I thought about getting the bigger tank for my 2005 Roadster but I would have had to change the seat to a Custom seat.

The stock riding position does suck. I have forward controls, back order wait of 4 months.. changed my seat 3 times and different bars. The stock bars flex, takes away the feel of the road. I suggest risers for you, maybe t bars.. makes a world of difference, Ride on brother, to the sound of thunder, rev under any underpass. Let out a laugh.

The bars should be buckhorns with the grips following the natural position of your wrists. These modern Harleys are NOT what i call " speed bikes." They are not the kind of bikes that make you WANT to push them because it feels so GOOD when you push them hard at speed. They are the OPPOSITE of that. They make you want to go SLOW because they feel horrible the faster you ride. The bars are awkward if not downright unwieldy. They do not point naturally where you are going and they don't feel centered when you are pointed dead center. The pegs are WAY too high and make you feel off balance. Which is why lots of guys put on seats that literally come with a built in backrest. Otherwise you fall backwards when you gas it. Anyway if you clean up all the terrible ergos and get a big Harley to fit you and feel like a "speed bike" then you discover the magic of waltzing around with the "Big Plus Size Girl." She's quite a ride buddy! But get those horrible ergos figured out at the factory sometime. Why should they be this awful on a $20,000 motorcycle? It amazes me. Is this too much to ask?
