An Expert's Guide to Francis Barrett's "The Magus"

The Magus, or Celestial Intelligencer was originally published in 1801 and has gone on to become a classic in the grimoire tradition. In this video, we are joined by Dr. Nicholas Literski, author, scholar, and long time collector of various editions of The Magus. Dr. Literski discusses the first and second editions of this book and how to tell the difference between the two, which are often confused for one another.

This was wonderful! Very well done, and interesting. The Magus was the first grimoire for which I constructed all of the tools and worked to great success, thanks in part to those wonderful illustrations. The book ignited two seemingly insatiable passions that seem never to burn out, and require evermore stoking - that is, of course, grimoire magick...and buying more books!

Love this! I could listen to Dr. Nicholas Literski every day all day. A wealth of information from a true magician and talented bibliophile. Keep up the great work.

Really nice job educating on this seminal work of the Western Mystery Tradition. Kudos on Dr. Nick's Aesthetics and Scholarship and Purveyor of and Appreciator of Fine Tomes Stephen K. on the production values. Raising the bar!

The "f" instead of the "s" drives me nuts.
