    I like how you talked about how context is actually really important with things like cutscenes. It reminds me of how people always dunk on that laughing scene from FFX and claim it as an example of bad voice acting. Even though the context of the scene is that they're trying to ward off their sadness by forcing themselves to laugh. The laugh is literally supposed to sound fake and bad, it's the point. And they end up laughing for real immediately after specifically because of how stupid their fake laughing sounded.

    Yep. People just want something easy to point at and go "That's dumb!" without actually thinking about it to the point of it becoming a meme. It's got the same flavor as the whole "too much water" thing; the review is literally saying that as a remake ORAS should be trying to be better, and does in a lot of ways, but still doesn't address the issue of numerous tedious water routes. It's completely legitimate, valid criticism, but "lol IGN iz dum!!!!!!!" makes people happy.
