heuheuheu hyuk hyuk, more so, it just shows how awful the labels are and how nuanced the religion/athiest positions are and how fluid they can be. An atheist can be nostic or agnostic, meaning they claim to know there is not a god, or they don’t claim to know what’s out there, so their position cannot have a god because they can’t assume anything. Most prominent atheists are the agnostic variety. Theist is anyone who does believe in a god. Some people equate spirituality to theism, but many Buddhists are spiritual, but they are technically atheists because they do not believe in a god (Buddha is like a saint). If you say god exists, you are a theist. If you don’t agree with that statement, you are an atheist. In this video, extreme theists and extreme nostic atheists are super salty because neither is a “true Christian” or “true atheist” in the same way the far political parties will label more centrists as not true members of the corresponding party. In the end, these people are very soft in their beliefs, so they both get a lot of hate from opinionated people, and more love from people who aren’t more educated in the nuance of the debate. The rest of people just see the discussion as it is, as just two small voices putting their insignificant opinions into the vast and unknowable universe.

@heuheuheu hyuk hyuk an atheist wouldn't change, they believe there is nothing and trust more in science, facts and rationality vs agnostic which is more, there could be something out there I just dont know what or who but it opens up a chance of belief in a religion. The "ex atheist" therefor is not an ex atheist as you would not just change your whole belief system after believing in facts and so on by just going to church one day nor would an agnostic but if you were christian and just didn't go to church in a really long time and practice it would be easy to get back into it if an effort was made. The ex christian believes theres something some force behind everything which means he's an agnostic as an atheist believes there is no force behind things, it just is how it is and your decisions and choices in life will determine your future and the life you make, theres no force behind you but the force you create.

If you haven't had a chance to figure out the world in which you live has been broadcasting brainwashing content and continues to display full blown psychosis because you have spent what 10 minutes to think about these things, you're not an atheist or a thinker and quite frankly a waste of time talking to someone like that. But even if I wasn’t an atheist I now think the Christian God is actually evil in so many different areas. I turned away from religion because I refused to rationalize people suffering FOREVER for any reason. I look at those I love saying “it’s okay, those people who are different from us deserve it” “they are unrepentant sinners” and can’t even fathom what makes them okay with something so abhorrent. They found a way to be okay with that reality, I haven’t. My view is that the real evil is a supreme being who allegedly foresaw & and orchestrated all this suffering for seemingly the pettiest of reasons. Who would bring something sentient into the world knowing that it’d suffer till the end of time? I’d think some restraint would be in order. I was raised and later chastised by friends and family off what I believe to be nonsense. God is obviously a figment of human imagination, he changes as we do (look no further than the difference between old and New Testament or even New Testament and modern Christianity) And God’s existence / deeds revolve so completely and utterly around us humans it’s obviously a token to human vanity. I rant like this only to explain my position and views. I’m not sure I’ll ever find an answer that justifies this particular belief but I’m haven’t closed myself off from discussion.

Just for the record, you can be a critical thinker and still believe in God. A lack of scientific proof that something exists does not mean it doesn't. Years ago we lacked proof that the earth was spherical. Does that mean it was actually flat until we discovered that proof? Obviously not. You may say critical thinking automatically leads one to not believe in God, because there is lack of absolute proof of His existence. I say a critical mind would also consider that there is nothing to absolutely disprove God's existence. What we're left with is faith. You can believe, or not believe. Choosing one stance over the other doesn't make someone smarter or more of a critical thinker than the opposite; one side simply has faith. Edit: To be clear, I'm not arguing that religion is right. I disagree with organized religions such as Christianity, Buddhism, etc. I do believe in God and Jesus, though. Just pray to god and it will get fixed. I was being molested for 5 years. i prayed every time i woke up and went to bed, before every meal, and after every time it happened. I would go to church any time the doors were open. I didn't cuss or do anything against the "word of god" yet it continued. I finally said something and he was put in jail. The issue was my mothers side of the family. While my immediate family was atheist, my mothers side of the family is extreme Christians. The type that live in Alabama, bible belt, small town, school had maybe 1500 for all grades (all grades in 1 school), houses a decent chunk away from each other, and the church was the center of it. They told me when they found out that "everything happens for a reason" and to "pray to god and it will get better". After that i was done with Christianity. I hated and still hate most Christians. I now believe in reincarnation, karma, things like that. It makes me feel better. To know that there is something else out there for me after death. that i don't have to do what some book tells me to do. I ran from religion my whole life- dad was Catholic, mom was Jewish. Both were extremely dysfunctional individuals. I found Christ once I finally left home and was baptized over three years ago now. However, I've been questioning a lot recently. My dad passed away from his addiction after I had been praying over him a lot and my mom is a narcissist who constantly gets away with running my name through the dirt and bashing me from afar. Even though I no longer speak to anyone in my family who is still alive today, I think I'm starting to face some of the deeper rooted issues that I am currently processing through and it's got me questioning a lot. I need perspective because to be honest, I was less judgmental before I gave my life to Christ and I don't like the person I've become today.

I mean, can you really say you were a proud atheist if it only took a 20 minute talk with a complete stranger to completely turn you on to Christianity? "I talked with the Taxi chick for a few mins, and then I went to Church and got a bible and everything. Changed my life forever!" "real atheists" aren't that flexible. I think this dude was a Christian, but was afraid to say he was because he was gay and was afraid of the gay community chastising him for it (or vice versa). Or afraid that his god wouldn't love him. Someone then came along and gave him some re-assurance and he was hooked again. I don't think this guy was ever atheist. I think he was an "in denial Christian"

@@marysutherland8236 Right, but my point is that a short conversation was all that was needed to convince this "proud atheist" to even go to church in the first place. Most* atheists have read the bible (or at least a good chunk of it.) and have a lot of knowledge of Christianity. This is the exact reason they AREN'T Christians. It's because they've done their research and asked the questions, and caused them to not believe, or not be apart of the religion. So saying that he had one conversation with an Uber driver and that's all that was enough to get this guy into a church for a sermon is pretty much saying that he wasn't REALLY an atheist. He was an "in-denial Christian". He was looking for a reason to be/stay Christian, and this Uber driver gave him some re-assurance, and that's all that was needed. "It's ok, God loves you even though you're gay, and aren't sure how you feel about his religion. God doesn't hate." "Oh my god, you're absolutely right." "Come to church with me this Sunday and you'll see just how welcoming it can be." "Ok, I'm there!" That's not how real conversations between Atheists and Christians go. Even extremely respectful and civil conversations. He was looking for a reason to step into that church, and one presented itself to him so he jumped on it. That's not the definition of Atheism.

And when i was lead by christ and became so happy and realised his truth, obviously, i wanted to comfort people again. But this time, guarantee them something worth it. Not just faith in the air. Faith that things will just get better for no reason and you'll move past this moment. But that you actually WILL and there is SOMETHING to believe in. So that they don't give up. Yeah I've heard a lot of people say exactly that. "I'm not angry at god. I just don't believe in it." Some of those people are believers now, some of them aren't. I think the argument "well then they couldn't have been REAL atheists" is presumptuous at best. "If an atheist used to believe in God than he must not have ever TRULY believed in God." Maybe you see my point from another angle? Most of them became atheists because they thought something like "there's so much evil in the world. So much pain. If there was a god, surely he would do something about it?" And progressed in their atheism off that. Making their foundation essentially blaming God for something did(n't) do. After that you either start believing in an uncaring God or cease belief in a god whatsoever. Unless in fact you come to have a profound personal experience, a revelation. I pray that happens for you, and anyone else who sees this, as it's happened for some of my staunchest atheist friends.

It's super refreshing to see a Christian have the same beliefs as me, a pagan, in terms of religions being equal across the board and having different translations for the same love we want to achieve. Also for an ex-Christian such as myself to not hate religion, just finding that it didn't work for them. Thank you guys for being a part of this, it's a super cool comparison.

Ex-atheist was simply anti-religious on a basis of church having dodgy attitude towards gay people. Not because he had an understanding of any religion. That's why he was so easily indoctrinated. However ex-christian still has long recovery ahead. 'Trust your instincts' alone is just a horrible advice. That's why we got science and measuring tools, so we don't have to rely on mostly completely unreliable instincts.

The ex-Christian essentially was worshipping and serving people and not God, so if anything he is an ex-SERVER. You can tell he's struggling to let go of Christianity. He's forcing himself to change and he looks so uncomfortable and I just wish him the best. It's hard to be a Christian when people affect you or change how you look at Christianity. The key is to see and hear God and not the people who you see as god

When the ex-Christian acknowledged the beauty of the present and how it is worth living... it truly struck me bc I can’t imagine a place where I’m in a constant state of happiness. Because I feel without the darkness, you aren’t able to grasp true joy and leaving that part of me that experiences pain and suffering that is so deeply intertwined with how I came to be the person I am today, is a disturbing and saddening thought.

This is a psychological thing in humans it's so unnatural to be happy all the time but "Do you really think that your spiritual form would feel the same way?" My friend with God worrisome things like that are unnecessary God said put your trust in HIM emotion, mentally and spiritually. I sometimes want some pain in my life when am happy or whenever I feel like life's going to good it feels off. We a psychologically engineered to be like that but in heaven its gonna be different you ain't gonna feel that uncertainty when you hit to heaven trust in God bro and don't question your beliefs with trying to look for answers yourself to see if you can prove yourself wrong because sometimes emotions can blind you

One of my thoughts about why God doesn’t help people who are dying, or school shootings, things like that... you have to remember that God isn’t the only thing at work here. The devil is working too. The devil wants us to sin, to hurt others. God is saving the people and bringing them to heaven. God saves the soul, your inner being. Our bodies are our shells. This is just my opinion and thoughts towards the questioning the ex-Christian mentioned.

@Patriciajoseph 0 actually got the same questions before. I accept Jesus but why am I feeling this way?? I thought when you accept Jesus you won't have to deal with anxiety or depression etc. Some Christian Churchs says that when when you accept him a 180 degrees change happens right away. Majority of time that doesn't happens. There are three part of us spirit, heart and body. Your body is the easiest to explain it just your physical self. Now to the spirit. When you accept Jesus as your Lord and savior your spirit is renewed but your heart still needs renewing (it still has injures). You have to treat those injures to finally be heal and free from pain. Some injuries are larger then other will take time. Your heart contains your emotions, mind and your will. God needs you to summit all of those to him and you will need inner healing and liberation so can do it. The thing is this is very deep and very long to be telling you how to do it in comment section. I myself is still in the process of learning it. I recommend you to buy and read the book "inner healing and deliverance" by Guillermo Maldonado. That what I am currently reading. It tells you in very deep details of what I just said and more. Every question I had is getting answered on why I feel this way physically and emotionally and It tells me how to get out. Sadly a lot of church don't teach this things even though these are the fundamentals and foundation of being a Christian. You gotta be free to free others right. That what I learn in the new church I am in my old church didn't teach me this things. Hope you also find a church that can make you grow spiritually and know God truly not a religion P.s religion doesn't save a relationship with God(jesus) does.

Ex atheist Dude had claimed Atheism for the wrong reasons. ‘I was only atheist cuz what I heard about religion was terrifying.’ And only accepted Christianity AFTER he found a church that didn’t scare or judge him so much. How can someone be terrified of something that they think ISN’T true? Like saying I don’t believe in the bogeyman but still terrified he’s going to really get me. wft sense is that? This is me and my own thoughts on it...but I think he REJECTED the Christian god rather than rejecting the actual claim/belief that the Christian god exist. More like a, ‘I don’t like you so I’m not going to follow you.” Rejection.
