An Evening with Barbara Cook PBS 1980
Ойын-сауық
Never before on KZread. Barbara Cook's 1980 PBS broadcast "An Evening with Barbara Cook." with Wally Harper, musical director. Taped around the time of Cook's second appearance at Carnegie Hall and the release of her second Carnegie Hall album, "It's Better with a Band," the broadcast featured much the same program as the concert and album. It was long regarded as an example of Cook in her vocal prime. The concert was never released on VHS, laser or DVD, and all that remains are recordings like these, videotaped from broadcast.

The first time I saw Barbara Cook, 1978, West 16th Street, Reno Sweeney's cabaret; 2 shows a night with Wally Harper, "arranger, composer, friend." And for 2 years, I never missed a night, sitting in the third seat at the bar.. now that was some two years of joy
Just stunning - the woman, the singer, the show. Barbara Cook is the top of the heap!!
She's the best. Period.
This is a treasure!! Saw her twice..will always be my favorite singer..such emotion. I feel alive with her..
She's just the best! I first saw Ms. Cook in the late 70's at Reno Sweeney's. She an Wally signed an album for me. I again saw her at Les Mouche and Grand Finale while living in Manhattan...then I moved to Key West and once again she was in concert at the Tennessee William's Fine Arts Center. It was an unusually humid evening and the humidity was really doing a number with her hair...but oh, THAT VOICE!!! Richard
Saw her live three times in London. Absolutely breathtaking
Amazing performance! Perfect! Her singing is so beautiful and moving. Gorgeous voice! And Barbara is so lovely)))
A brilliant performer, a singer's singer - thank you for sharing this gem!!
Thank you so much! My late partner turned me on to Barbara; we both love her!

To Bob Keefe: So true and so beautifully expressed, Bob!
Thanks for posting this: I never thought I'd see it again. Barbara at her best and inspired by the magnificent Wally Harper's arrangements. Incomparable!
She was better than Streisand et al- Hollywood missed the opportunity to promote a real artiste. She stunned them in London.
Thank you for sharing.
Wonderful!!! Thank you
Magnificent!!
Fabulous! I had only seen the first 10 minutes of this program as filler on a friend's VHS tape.... Thank you so much for sharing this!
I was always baffled as to why Cook never played Eliza in My Fair Lady. You'd think it was a perfect role for her.
*RIP*
Sam Pilafian is still playing Tuba!
