I do have a dishwasher but actually, I prefer washing up by hand. It’s just five-ten minutes of mindfulness. How the warmth of the water feels on my skin, the bubbles to blow in the air and watching the beautiful birdies with their song and catching worms or eating the food I’ve put out. It’s just nice to “be” in the moment sometimes and it’s helped me to have my medication reduced. Beautiful video. Lovely to “spend” time with you this Sunday. xxx

I love washing my dishes with my hands - its just me as I live alone. I love the feel of the water against the dish and use the scrubby if needed. After using a scrubby - usually I don't need to - I test the plate under the water and my hand swirling around it. Such a lovely feeling; it almost feels like I am saying thank you to them.

Niamh, you make even the most basic routines look and feel so lovely! I could almost smell the sheets drying on the line in the fresh spring air. Here where I live, at the shore in New Jersey, it is full-on Springtime. My favorite season. My lilac bush is days away from blooming and I can’t wait. The scent of the lilacs is intoxicating! Yesterday I took my daily trash walk on the beach ( I walk but also pick up the trash that’s washed up ) and there were dolphins not too far out in the ocean. Seeing them rise out of the sea and then disappear and then rise again is one of the most beautiful sights in the world. I followed them for as long as I could see them but then they went further out to sea. It was a gift to be able to see them. I love the beach this time of year; it’s not hot yet and there are very few people. It’s so peaceful. 🐬🐬🐬

You are inspiring me with your more simple lifestyle. I already do a lot of "country ways" and 6 months ago, I cancelled my cable tv. I dont miss it and can pick up the national news off my phone's internet and google a news site. I save 200 dollars a month by not having internet and cable channels off my two televisions! Plan to also sell one tv soon. I can play dvds off my tv without a contract and local libraries lend out movies for free. I prefer to read, so I buy books at thrift stores and have huge baskets of books next to cozy chairs and by bedside too. I read every evening and especially during rainy days. I have grown our own food for 35 years, canning, freezing and preserving. It was a simple, peaceful life in the country, but a few years back, my husband died unexpectedly. My friends and family urged me to leave our very isolated 40 acres property, so I sold home and land, moving into suburban allotment. I have tried it for several years, but have decided I am a country gal...not a suburbs city lifestyle woman. There are "rules" about height and style of fence, no gardening, no outdoor clothes lines, only inground pools allowed, colors of doors and shutters, no more than one pet, no wildflowers etc. Yep, too much rules and limitations for me! The house is up for sale and I am moving back to rural farmland, living next to some very much loved country kinfolk! I miss birdsong, whispering winds within treetops, the fresh air, etc.

The Autumn is just settling in here in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. Our first fires of the season are being lit, with the homey smell of woodsmoke hanging in the air. Autumnal leaves are turning all the colours found in the dying of the light; fire reds and bright oranges, while the last full roses hold onto their petals.

Here in coastal Virginia the late daffodils, tulips & alliums are in full bloom. The trees are almost filled out and the foliage blocks any remote views of my neighbors. So I only have drapes in my bedroom. The rest of my windows look out at the woods, gardens & millpond. Even though I live alone (except for Guinness my Standard poodle) I never worry about privacy. I love watching the moonlight over the water & the sun’s early dawn light.

Thank you, as always, for the joy you bring to so many these Sunday mornings - and greetings to all the marvelous Fairylanders who take the time to comment and share their spring stories (I've always maintained that the seasons should be capitalized to avoid confusion, such as in this instance where one could be talking about mechanics...). Spring is its predictable unpredictable self here in Maryland in the Mid-Atlantic in the US: still chilly nights but the days are mainly sunny and mild, so no complaints as I know the long hot and humid days of summer approach where one longs for the milder weather of April. As I type, 576 likes and not one detractor - this speaks volumes as to how loved this channel is. Thanks again to all for making this such a wonderful community - the best way to start a Sunday morning. Happy April to all (noting that for our Southern Hemisphere and Equatorial-inclined viewers that it's not spring)!

Here in Kentucky (US) Spring is coming along slowly but surely! The nights and mornings have been quite cool (cold some would say lol), but the afternoons and evenings are perfectly temperate imo (if it were 65°F year round I'd be a happy girl). After being awakened all winter by the harsh caws of huge crows looking for their breakfast upon the frost covered grass, it's a lovely change to wake to the sound of sweet birdsong coming from the families of cardinals, bluejays and robins we have in abundance. Not to mention how the light has shifted from a thin watery grey to a glorious golden beam! 🌞🐦🌷🌱💜

Oh what a lovely and calming video. I miss feeling in tune with the seasons. I'm Canadian born and raised but have been in Texas for eight years, as it's where my husband is from. Of course the seasons don't cease changing here but they certainly aren't as distinct and varied as the seasons I know from my home. I'm happy to say that we're looking ahead at some likely changes with my husband's work and we should be planning a move within a year. If all goes well we'll be somewhere with actual seasons and to say I'm excited to feel close to the natural rhythms of the earth again would be a complete understatement!

When mom put the fresh sheets on our beds, we would go to sleep breathing in the fresh crisp smell of the country air infused in them. Life was good. Sweet memories. When we were young and running around I nearly hung myself running into that clothes line! Lol aaa more than once. I guess I was not the sharpest knife in the draw! Lol

It has been spring for a little over a month here in north Texas, we just moved here at the end of last summer so it is my first spring here. I must say the weather has been beautiful and almost perfect every day. I’ve been opening up the back door to listen to the birds and see the trees on our street, that were for a while blooming and now are green. I started a vegetable garden with potatoes, tomatoes, onions, sunflowers, and green beans. It’s my first time growing vegetables so there will be mistakes to learn from, I’m sure. Mostly it’s a great way to spend peaceful time outside in the beautiful spring weather.

I live in Arizona, USA, and it’s already quite warm here. Tomorrow will be 91 F or 33 C. I’d love the idea of being able to walk where it’s wooded, but the desert is beautiful, too. You just have to listen for rattlesnakes. Your fire looks so cozy, but it rarely gets cold enough for my husband and I to have a fire. Since we’ve moved here, we’ve really been enjoying hanging clothes out to dry, and they dry so quickly, too. We don’t even have a dryer as it rarely rains, and the sun is warm enough in winter to dry the clothes. Thank you for making your beautiful videos! 🥰

Wonderful reminder to embrace the art of slow wherever you are in the world. Sadly here in Cambodia we miss both spring and autumn, having just two seasons wet and dry. We are coming to the end of the dry season now, awaiting the monsoon rains that make everything lush and green again..... and a little bit cooler. It's one of our favourite times of year here when the paddy rice fields are planted. Thanks for sharing..... as a sustainable ethical brand we look forward to following your journey.

Spring here, in Northern NJ, USA. My early daffodils and scilla have bloomed, my candy tuft and phlox are beginning to show, and I see the buds of May tulips. Hostas are coming up, clematis has been leafing out and climbing for a few weeks now. There are violets in the grass. It’s Sunday night here, so that means a special dinner and handmade dessert. And if course, your latest video! My cat is on my lap as I write this, purring away! So, I spend some time petting her and talking with her. Reading or music after, until bedtime. Oíche mhaith. Codladh sámh!

Hello, thank you for your video. I live on the Canadian prairies. Yesterday I was out in my garden wearing a t-shirt and feeling very warm. This morning I woke up to snow, rain and wind so I went for a walk with my winter jacket and winter clothes on. That's very typical for this area this time of year. We're supposed to be getting more snow in the coming days as well. Lots of people complain, but I don't mind. I absolutely love this time of year.

This has just been blissful! It resonated with me. Love hanging washing out to dry. I miss a fire too in the summer. I actually miss the dark nights too. I blame it on being a winter baby! ❤

Lovely video as always. We live on a lake, and I love scavenging driftwood for kindling. The beavers leftover twigs and branches get the fire going quickly. We still have to make a fire some mornings, but let it burn out by lunch time until evening, when we will light it again if temperature goes to the single digits. Overnight temperatures are going up steadily, so the morning ritual will be put to bed until fall soon enough. Like you, I also miss the fire in the summer😁

I used to live in a rock wall house. Once you got the walls warmed up a small fire kept it very warm. I loved that house. Sometimes I miss it. There is something about fire. When my dad lived with us, he would sit by the fire and smoke his pipe and stir the fire. It was very soothing to him. Thank you for a glimpse of your life of peace

We've had some lovely days in the southern US. Our routine changes very little. We do stay outside longer which pushes every thing back, especially eating (ugh). I do wish we could change our meal schedule, big meal earlier. I'm sure it would make a huge difference. But, my husband is a creature of habit, big meal and then a movie or two every night. It's exhausting. Have a great week!

Spring here in CA, Sequoia Valley, is just gorgeous. warm temps and cool breezes. I'm decluttering and cleaning out winter clothes, trying on my spring/summer outfits. Really feels good to get this done...and is such a simple thing but as you said it is a ritual that marks the end of one season and the beginning of another. Night time routine is just putting things away, taking care of my kitties and getting my shower. Then some reading...Love your channel...find your videos very soothing. Thanks so much!

Goodness, I got lucky in between lock downs and managed to get the exact same washing basket from my favourite local charity shop - such a find and isn't it wonderful to feel such joy from such a simple thing.. I didn't quite realise until then how much I dislike plastic baskets (and the problems with plastic of course), and am staggered by the degree of enjoyment I now feel with doing laundry with my beautiful basket. Us humans are funny things really. I love my laundry smelling fresh so much I even sometimes hang it out during winter for just an hour, then take inside again to dry over the radiators - especially with bedding, for me it's worth it..

I'm very much a routine girl, and find my rhythm of life changed with each season , from what I eat to how I spend my days. Living in Canada our winters are legendary as we are bracing for a mid week snow storm arriving next Wednesday....par for the course for April in Ontario. I do however enjoy changing up my routines somewhat with the seasons....much like yourself I eat the main meal mid day...around 1 then in the evenings it's a sandwich or cereal...maybe tea and toast. I enjoy the longer days...as for us in mid winter it gets dark at 4:30 pm! It's nice to still have some day light at 7. Since the effects of the craziness last year I had changed my online time a lot...I enjoy my weekends reading Pinterest , watching my few favourite KZread channel and hitting ideas, noted and inspirations to add to my week.....till the next weekend. I do enjoy a movie at night or writing....but I really do only come online on the weekends. I have to trust my notes I take, and my own thoughts for inspiration. Thank you for helping to make my weekends more enjoyable. I do love your channel and look forward to your videos.

Just wanted to reach out and thank you for always sharing your glorious simple joys. You are such a wonderful inspiration. We have spring here in the suburbs of NYC (one hour north) Bulbs are all coming up, trees and flowering trees are returning. It is glorious. We had some 70° weather, but as usual April is fickle and while there is thankfully no snow, we’ve had some temps in the 40s. My seeds are all doing well, but I’m going to wait a bit before I get them out into the garden. I did direct sow a bunch of them that are cold hardy though.

Most don't know it's there right in the middle of suburbia. Today I saw a beaver making it's home. Thanks for sharing. It seems my routines vary little from season to season. I'm retired now and my day starts winding down about five, which means a light supper sometime before eight, studying Spanish on Duolingo, reading, and checking email for the last time. It seems there are always chores, a bit of household maintenance to do, planning for the next day, etc. I read a bit more before getting into bed about 11, and usually get up around six-ish. Sometimes, on these longer evenings, I may sit outside on my front porch with a cup of tea and read or greet nearby neighbors, maybe water the flower beds, if we haven't had rain. So, yes, the evening is a bit more low-key than the day with its errands and shopping and the usual house- and yard-work. See you next time!
