I find that the “busy work” that I developed as a mother was some of the most meaningful work of my life. It’s incredibly grounding when you begin to take root in your home. I have a new found appreciation in homemaking… I consider it to be a role that goes far beyond cleaning and cooking. There is magic that occurs when we focus on the welfare of the household. It happens even when we are introducing our little ones to their spider friends for the first time. Or eating a new fruit for the first time. I am so happy that you are healing and growing in this new phase of life. ♥️ Many blessings to you. 🙏 ✨

Welcome back… I’m so thrilled to have a little update from you. I couldn’t help but notice the importance ot ‘connection’ throughout this video. Connection, of course, with your little one and your family, but also with your support network, the natural world, your routines, and with yourself. This video is a lovely re-connection with us out here in Viewer Land. It reminds me to value the connections I have in my life and to take the time to soak them up. I’ve just started year number 36 in the classroom, and while I love teaching, I’m at the point in my life where I need to think of what comes next. This is my 54th consecutive year in the school system, on one side of the desk or the other, and I am not really sure what I will be doing next September. One thing I do know, whatever I am doing, it will be focused on connection. Currently our garden and green house are bountiful but slowing down, there is still lots of harvesting and preserving to do. I am loving my wild swimming time at the lake although it has been reduced to weekends only now that school is back in session. I’m also loving the warm sun drenched evenings when I can read or enjoy my skill toys (yoyo and kendama - a Japanese wooden skill toy) outside. This will not last for much longer… I’m soaking it up while I can. The rain and cooler days are soon to arrive. Thank-you for this wonderful reunion and for sharing your four seasons with us here once again. 💦🌎Ⓜary🇨🇦💕

Wow Mary, I taught for 26 years and although I loved it, I never miss the homework. In saying that though, I’ve created a channel and it’s not lost on me that at times I’m once again up late at night trying to stick to a ‘due date’ or posting deadline. And I can’t help but teach in my videos even though they’re about solo or couple travel. Once a teacher always a teacher. I agree with what Jemma said, you can become a writer!!! I’d read your work.

Welcome back and congratulations! I am so glad you are being completely honest about the changes you are experiencing as well as things you have changed for where you are now! It’s perfectly ok to do what you need to do for now. Yes, the first year goes quickly, but I can say all the years fly. The days are long but the years are short. My last baby just left for college and it’s a tremendous change for me as I have been a stay at home mom for 24 years. For me, it was easier to adjust to having them than having them fly! But, I will adjust and take care of myself until I do. Welcome back and thank you for your soothing video.

So good to have you back and to see your new little girl .Children are so precious as I found out as I lost my only Son on Christmas Day last year and it's the worst pain ever . Treasure your child , you only get one go at this and every minute spent with them remains with them forever . Looking after yourself is important too , if you're not good you can't give yourself to your little one . Housework will be there when you are dead and gone was what my Grandmother always said to me and she was right . When I laid my dear Son to rest I swore that never again would I worry about the small stuff . Thank you for taking this time out of your now busy day to make this video , I'm sure we all appreciate it . Have fun with your child ,they're not small for long .Lots of love to you all xx💔

Congratulations on the birth of your child. It is so good to have you back again. I am living alone with my dog, and although I enjoy being on my own most of the time, I do get very lonely here. I love going out on my walks with my dog, and enjoy all the wildlife around me, and this keeps me going. I have sold my car, as I could not afford it, and I was not using it. Your vids keep me going, along with others that I watch, of real folk, like yourself, kind loving folk. We have so many things to be thankful for. Thank you for your lovely quiet video. xxx

When I was younger and frightened of the prospect of labour and becoming a mother for the first time. My first trip to the midwife I was lucky to sit next to a lady that was on her 6th pregnancy. She described it as an orchestra conductor. You can play very dramatically and pull in every part of the orchestra. Or you can just play soft music and only have four strings. Now obviously it depends on your circumstances but women have had babies since the beginning of time and been successful. As they don't come with a manner there is a good chance you would make a good mother and thankfully we are not all the same, which means what you think you lack maybe the one thing everyone needs.

I was so thrilled to see an update from you! You gave this grandma many smiles to see your simple routines that I experienced back in the 80s with my family. Nappies, hanging out the wash, sprouting and soaking, gardening, foraging, going for walks, and connecting with other moms. Congratulations and continued joy to you and your family.

I’m so glad you were able to take the time to enjoy your baby’s first year and hope you continue to take time off whenever you need it. We love getting updates from you and hearing from you but we also love that you listen to what you need and can all learn from it. This was such a lovely peaceful video! I find my breath deepens when I watch your videos. Thank you for this calm and wonderful space in all the crazy of the world.

I had three and was lucky enough to stay at home when they were young. We lived in the country, thrifted clothes and other items we needed, cooked from scratch and lived a frugal life. I’ve never regretted the time I spent with my girls. I know this is not for everyone though. Each to their own. You are wise to give yourself latitude in finding your way. As you say there’ll be plenty of opportunity for change as time goes by. Enjoy every minute of it! Much love 💕

It's so good to have you gracing my screen again. :-) I don't have a child of my own, but my niece is basically my little girl -- I first met her at the age of 13 months (she was born in China), and earlier this year we celebrated her 13th birthday. All those moments of wonder at seeing something for the first time, of holding little fingers in your hand during a walk, of quietly watching a little one sleep.. they are beyond precious, and even more fleeting. Hold onto those moments & memories as best you can! I'm looking forward to more new videos, but with the expectation that they will come as your new position in life as a mother allows.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl! I wish I had the knowledge you did when I had my first child. It would’ve made it a million times easier on me to know I didn’t need so much for baby. It wasn’t until I had my 4th that I realized that and made that time so much more peaceful despite having 4 little ones. ❤️

Good morning and congratulations! I was elated to wake up to a notification from my most beloved channel. I used to look so forward to waking up on Sunday mornings here in the US to another addition of fairyland cottage. this past year has brought big changes in my life as well. Battling breast cancer certainly put my life into perspective and I’ve slow down and done much more natural remedies and foods myself. I am so thankful that you all are back and what a beautiful little family you have! I love that you said you do what works for you in a particular season and then when you need to change, you will change. I look so forward to the next season of fairyland cottage videos!

Welcome back!! It is so nice to see you again, feels like catching up with a friend. Motherhood is such a journey! My kids are 14 and 16. I was just writing in my journal yesterday about the constant seasons of change with children, and how challenging it can be to adapt. They are excited to grow up, but I want to hold on to every precious moment with them. We coslept too. The cozy winter evenings with a baby curled up beside me to keep me warm were so precious!! =)

I’ve missed your videos but I’m so glad to see that your time away has been so special! Congrats on your precious little one, how blessed she is to have such a magical place to grow up in and explore! Being a parent is the hardest job in the world. Mine is turning 20 years old next month and although things change, others still stay the same. I’m so glad you’re cherishing the moments with your little one, the time really does just go so quickly. Big hugs to you all, take care and enjoy autumn in Fairyland!

I am so happy you came back ! Yes, it is so important to have this support and love, and I was missing those relaxing moments with you. This last year has been rough indeed, an emotional roller coaster, the world has changed so fast and so dramatically. I retired inside my own world too, slowed down, and try to love and take care of myself, which I am not sure I ever did in the past. I get some inspiration on YT, and some peaceful moments. I still bake the soda bread, so delicious and filling. I also have been planting, harvesting and took a great deal of joy eating my own products and cooking. I also try to regularly walk in nature, and it does a lot of good to me. Fall is coming, with apples and pumpkins, and I hope to continue enjoying before entering this coming cold Winter. Enjoy each precious moments with your little girl, they fly so fast ! And when you look back, you just realize it was pure joy and happiness, and the purpose of your life. Welcome back, and looking forward to your next video !

Welcome back, with congratulations! My children are grown, but we continue to nourish, love, and raise character- filled friends on our small holding. This year I received chicks and ducklings to add to our family. Having never had them before, I too was somewhat of a new mum 😉 We tucked the wee peeping fluffballs into my greenhouse as their nursery. At night, once I had done evening chores for our small cattle & sheep herd, I would put the baby birds to bed in their bed-boxes in my greenhouse. Fresh sweet straw, muted light from our permanent Christmas lights on our porch gently lit up their nursery, the sound of crickets. I would lay down in the fresh straw. The babies would toddle over to me, 1 by 1, and we would settle in together. I would lay amongst them for awhile, heart full of the joy of new life and a blessedly full life here. Autumn is upon us. We've all the hay for Winter now. I'll be bedding the cattle & sheep stalls with fresh straw soon in preparation for Winter, and will once again turn my attention to my messy unkempt house during Winter, after our very busy seasons of Spring, Summer, and early Autumn. And as Earth turns, so do our lives; each it's own season. Love to you and your wee family. ♥️

I'm thrilled that you are back! Just the other day I was wondering when you'll be returning and here you are! I really love your voice and hearing from you and your life 😊 Congratulations on your baby! This last year was my last year of being in radiography school, I just finished last month! I also just turned 30 and I'm thinking about having a baby next year, I like hearing you talk about being a new mom. Can't wait for that experience ❤️

Delighted to hear how your family is doing and growing. Listening to your feelings about becoming a mother, how it's changed you, how you're learning to be easy and forgiving with yourself, actually brought tears to my eyes. Truly brought back memories of those years with my own children, which were so precious to me. I just related so much, and also had the word "amen" come to mind so many times.
